Marriage ceremony is not a competition where you strive to outclass those before you.

However it is done, the happiness of the couple and their ability to function thereafter without debt overhang is paramount.

It's done a lot in Catholic church popularly called the morning mass wedding.

Not suit and wedding gown required and in less than an hour, it has finished.

My igbo couples do that a lot.
When people are still waking up to start cooking for the occasion, una don finish. Then come back and prepare for the traditional marriage properly.

Has nothing to do with poverty lately although those that can't afford the flamboyant wedding ceremony do that too.

Also if the lady is noticeably pregnant, she dont wear wedding gown.

I see two humans being real.
No facade of make-up or over dressing for an occasion.

Their union will last long with little or less drama. Amen.
