The Ugly Truth About Online Businesses… For Starters by Xamie271(m): 2:09pm On May 10, 2019
It's 2019. Everyone wants to start an online business.

Because why not?

It's location free - you can work from anywhere in the world.

It has minimum barrier of entry - you don't need a certificate to begin an online business.

It's nondiscriminatory - any one of any background, social status or ethnicity can begin an online business.

It requires little or no capital - all you need is an internet-enabled device (smartphone or computer) and internet access.

That's why there's a massive explosion of software development and finessing of business models.

For those who want to start an online business, it can be overwhelming not knowing where to start and what to do.

There are "1000 Way to Make Money Online". I'd focus on just two.

1. One service based online business: Digital Marketing.
2. One product based online business: Ecommerce.

Digital marketing (I'm not defining this for you) sometimes requires no capital.

I see some young people doing it the wrong (or long) way. I hope you're not one of them.

By long I mean, they go to YouTube and watch a couple of digital marketing videos, attend Google's digital garage and eventually get their certificate.

Now what?
.
.
.
.
As a business owner, would you hire someone to do "digital marketing" for you?

Or

Would you hire someone to run Facebook Ads for your company/products/services?

You'd chose the second option right?

You see, digital marketing is a huge blob. It's not tangible. It can't be grasped.

It's a bunch of many things {SEO, Google PPC Ads, Email Marketing, Google Business, Facebook Ads, Social Media Management, Content Creation and so on}.

Most people prefer to learn the blob. They try to grasp the cloud instead of zeroing down on one skill. That's a HUGE mistake.

Eventually, they fail to make money selling "digital marketing" as their skill. Because it's not a skill.

Onwards.

Ecommerce. Ahah!!!

Where the mad bars are made.

Do it right, you'll be counting money every day. One single flop, you'll run into serious debt.

There are one or three mistakes I see people make with ecommerce.

1. Making it a business of products: How dare you? Are you aware that it's humans who will but these products.
You skip them and import your products. Boom! Nobody buys it. Then you begin to wonder if ecommerce is a scam.

Ecommerce is a business of people.

2. Lack of Salesmanship: You could have the most valuable products. Fail to convey the benefits of that product to the emotions of your prospective buyer, you lose that sale.

The reason people part with their money is because they are buying results. Not products. They are making an emotional decision by parting with their money.

Being able to sell to that emotion that need fulfilled - be it to look sexy, to be confident, to appear successful, to be more manly, etc. All of these emotions are derived from products they buy. The same products you sell.

To get ahead, skip the fluffy talk and sell that which the customer is seeking to buy.

3. Chasing after new customers: You'll probably raise an eyebrow on this one. Is it easier to sell to a new person or to someone who has purchased from you before?

Getting new customers is good. Selling to your current customers repeatedly is awesome!!!

What better way is there to getting new customers than having your best customers talk about your wonderful products to their friends and family?

4. Neglecting Customer Service: Really, did you even think of that?

We play with customer service too much in this country. The businesses who don't make the most money.

A customer called a friend of mine and was shouting that it's been 10 days and she has not received her order.

The guy calmed her down and out-rightly said he'd fire his current logistics company for continuously messing up his deliveries.

He apologized and offered the lady a 10% discount on the next purchase. She bought another product from him right there and he made two sales from an angry customer! Can you beat that?

I could keep going on and on. Instead I'd have you read THE EMOTIONAL TOOLKIT FOR SALES.

Read it to discover 14+ Tactics which you can apply to become an expert salesman off the bat.
