Irked by the flagrant abuse of the Lagos State Traffic Laws, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday evening came down hard on a Danfo driver who drove against traffic on Eko Bridge.

The governor , who was returning to Government House after attending a function on the Island, was shocked with the way the driver was driving despite following ‘one way’

The Governor, on sighting the vehicle, ordered his convoy to stop.

He alighted from his car and immediately ordered that the vehicle be impounded.

He also directed that the driver be prosecuted in line with the provisions of the Traffic Laws.

The governor, who had earlier in the day signed an Executive Order that extended LASTMA’s work hours to 11pm, said his government will empower LASTMA to do more.

He should have sacked and officer that let the bus violate our laws by doing that everyone will seat up they don't know when the governor is out and about. What he did here people will only obey the law when he is out. All he needed to do was record the even and show the officers in charge. With that everyone will know what they are supposed to do. It is not his job to impound vehicles.

well, I cannot blame you.. enemy of progress..
maybe you've forgotten when a Lastma official tried to question a motorist why he was driving against traffic .. Only to find out he was a SARS official.. the man shot him on his head and the Lastma died at the spot of discharging his lawful duty.
The Lastma officials are also civilians like you and they are not allowed to carry guns.. And you cannot expect that official to stand in front of the danfo driver while driving against traffic.. they have families too... and some maybe the breadwinner.

what I expected you to say is Lagos traffic laws and enforcement need to be reviewed.. Lastma should be given back up in case of assault in discharging their duties. and Lastma should be empowered to enforce Law. this is the only way to maintain sanity and order...
