BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Police have arrested 21-year-old Tokunbo Okuwoga for Wednesday morning's double murder on Bradley Street.

The 22-year-old victims, Felipe Bravo Jr. and Daina Caraveo, were shot about 2:30 a.m. in their home on the 2000 block. They had two daughters who were in the home at the time, and their eldest daughter, age 5, reportedly called her grandma to tell her about the shooting.

Okuwoga is also accused of shooting 43-year-old Felipe Bravo Sr. His condition is unknown.

Okuwoga was named a suspect Thursday morning and was arrested shortly before 2 p.m. the same day at the downtown Amtrak station, according to Sgt. Mary DeGeare.

Officers got a tip, but they won't say exactly who provided the information.

Investigators learned that Okuwoga was arriving via train from Fresno. Police said he was planning to take a bus to Los Angeles and then head to San Diego.

Officers, including a SWAT team, met Okuwoga at the train station, and he was arrested without incident, according to police.

"We surrounded the train station, and we evacuated the bus, and there was an arrest team in place, including a SWAT personnel to take him into custody as soon as he got off the train," DeGeare said.

A bus driver who was there when the arrest happened snapped a photo of officers, armed with big rifles, wrestling Okuwoga to the ground.

"They had officers on the bus, in case he made it that far," the driver said. He didn't want to be identified.

DeGeare told Eyewitness News that Okuwoga had just been released from jail. The officer would not comment on the relationship between the victims and the suspect.

DeGeare said officers believe the motive for the shootings was robbery. She said money was taken from the home.

Marijuana was found growing in the victims' garage, but police haven't connected it to the murders.

Okuwoga has had prior run-ins with the law, according to Kern County court records. His infractions included illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, participating in a street gang and making threats with the intent to terrorize.

A relative of the victims, who didn't want to be identified, told Eyewitness News that Okuwoga had been at the victims' house the night of the shootings.

DeGeare said officers did not find any weapons on Okuwoga when he was arrested. But officers took a lot of precautions when they surrounded the train station. DeGeare said the public was in possible danger during the arrest.

"Significant danger," DeGeare said. "That's why we took measures to make sure that the people were out of the area and off the bus, and we tried to limit the possibility of him taking any as a hostage, or hurting anyone while trying to get away from us."

Okuwoga now faces possible charges of murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and burglary
