Sadly our northern politicians have degraded the sanctity of our most revered traditional institutions because of personal vendettas and politics forgetting that the present political structure we all crave to b part of was built with the foundations of these traditional institutions through the Native Authorities which was supervised by d colonial government. And to be honest our traditional institutions are our last line of defence in preserving our cultural heritage which is rapidly deteriorating with the influx of Western Ideologies because of the “unpatriotic” and “lacklustre” attitude of our so called politicians and elder statesmen who are always trying sabotage these institutions instead of strengthening them while they are always the first port of call for the teeming masses.
And in this case Ganduje as a leader has shown the world we have no respect for the sanctity of these institutions through his smear campaigns against the kano emirate and the eventual disintegration of emirate all in a bid of waging a personal war against the emir SLS. Imagine cancelling the age long tradition of Hawan Nasarawa which is one of the colourful and enviable cultural durba in the whole Continent which is graced by people from different parts of the world and also the most prized durba for which the emirate is recognised for by the British Crown.
If Ganduje has an axe to grind with the emir it shouldn’t be at the expense of the “age-long” Emirate that has persevered through Nigeria’s �� long and turbulent history,from the advent of colonial powers,to the post independence strings of military dictatorships,and eventually to the current political dispensation which as seen is also mired by “Wolves in sheep clothing “ with no iota of the plight of the masses they claim to represent.
