As a leader, when you are truthful to your people, when answering yes or no, you don't need a jotter to take notes because there is nothing to remembered. Truth extends to encouragement. If you speak a positive truth about all people, you never have to avoid anyone. Truth extends to implications. If you refuse to give false impressions, you never feel the need to cover up. It is better to be divided by truth than to be united in error. It is better to speak the truth that hurts and then heals, than falsehood that comforts and then kills. what is truthful ? There are truths, there is being truthful and then there is the Truth. Truth is a person; KNOWING Him (not "about” Him) opens the door to Truth and becoming Truth-full. John 14:16 “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life; no one comes to the Father but by Me” John 4:23 “A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” We see then that to be truthful is MORE than being full of facts, correct knowledge, good information, right doctrines, correct articles of faith or creeds. Jesus' words and deeds were not His own, they were from the Father. It is impossible to be truly honest with ourselves, others and God without being full of “THE Truth.” Jesus was a human being, yet He was not full of Himself. He expressed the Father, not Himself. He emptied Himself that He might be full of the Father's words, will, ways, and works. “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.” Our touchstone for Truth, must not be our creeds, articles of faith, confessions, or our church leaders opinions. Nor should our touchstone be our Bible translation. “You search the Scriptures for in them you 'think' you have life. But they testify of Me that you might have life.” No,our touchstone for truth must be Truth Himself. Nothing else will do,not even our understanding of our Bible translation. Dear precious brothers and sisters, let us take some time today to see if indeed the adversary has fertile ground in which to plant his lies which prevent us from manifesting God's glory which comes from being filled with His Spirit and His Truth.  Worshiping in truth and spirit simply means being true to yourself and not thinking with your carnal mind but being led by the spirit. It means, when you go to church with the intent to give N100 as offering even when you know you won't have transport fare back home that you shouldn't. You should be true to yourself to know you can't afford it and also spiritually mature to know that God doesn't need your N100 to be God. 46 Likes 7 Shares |

The Watchtower, September 15, 2001 Questions From Readers What does it mean to worship Jehovah “with spirit”? When witnessing to a woman of Samaria who had come to draw water at Jacob’s fountain near the city of Sychar, Jesus Christ said: “God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.” (John 4:24) True worship must be rendered ‘with truth’ in that it must conform to what Jehovah God has revealed in the Bible about himself and his purposes. Our service to God must also be spirited, or zealous, motivated by a heart full of love and faith. (Titus 2:14) However, the context shows that Jesus’ statement about ‘worshiping God with spirit’ pertains to far more than the mental disposition with which we serve Jehovah. The discussion that Jesus had with the woman at the well was not about the presence of fervor or the lack of it in worship. Even false worship can be rendered with zeal and devotion. Rather, after stating that the Father would be worshiped neither at a mountain in Samaria nor at the temple in Jerusalem—both physical locations—Jesus pointed to a new method of worship based on the true nature of God. (John 4:21) He said: “God is a spiritual Being.” (John 4:24, Charles B. Williams) The true God is not material and cannot be seen or felt. His worship does not revolve around a physical temple or a mountain. Hence, Jesus referred to an aspect of worship that goes beyond the things seen. In addition to being rendered with truth, acceptable worship would also have to be guided by the holy spirit—God’s invisible active force. “The [holy] spirit searches into all things,” wrote the apostle Paul, “even the deep things of God.” He added: “We received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that have been kindly given us by God.” (1 Corinthians 2:8-12) To worship God acceptably, we must have his spirit and be guided by it. Moreover, it is essential that our spirit, or mental disposition, be attuned to his through study and application of his Word. Thanks for reading.
