As a Southerner I must say, who cares if Omo Agege becomes Dsp?

Our voting pattern and our politics align more with Igbos than with Yorubas.

Please stop crying on our behalf.

lol. U guys still dont understand yoruba. People say igbos are chestbeaters and i laugh...if an igboman was president or vp...u will never see igbos use it to insult others...but wen the table turns to yoruba they start the usual political sophis...yen yen. They are vain glorious. Look at how they are telling igbos to leave lagos...no other ethnic group in nigeria will say that to another ethnic group. A yoruba man's mouth is his power...if u hear 10 times that 2 nigerians exchanged words abroad....10 out of 10 a yoruba must be involved.

Let them have their fun. They will use their ill thought action to create enough bad blood that will help end the nonsense country

Those guys are very pathetic, he said that SS was former SW , this is when I knew that the guy is an empty skull..
The part of SS that was former SW was today's Edo and Delta.. Infant, when Edo and Delta were with SW, SW humiliated them so much that agitation kept erupting day by day, hence the creation of mid west Nigeria.. Infact Oba of Benin a First Class monarch was humiliated in a way that he was an ordinary floor member in the house of Chiefs in SW..
Their parents have failed to teach them why mid west was hurriedly created..
To tell you how dumb the Op is, he went ahead to tell me that All SS supported Abiola just to keep selling his awkward narrative.. He forgot that the same Abiola won in Enugu and Anambra, failed in Rivers Cross River and Others . [s]Abiola's election result from Today's SE and SS was mixed up[/s]..
The same SS they demonised years ago. When Igbos were with Jonathan which gave rise "Igbos are pillars of my administration ", Yoruba Muslims are still crying because of that statement till now..

Average yiryba muzlem is very dft..
Why do you enjoy peddling falsehood?.. Wetin you gain?.. Egotripping?, perhaps Consolation.

Something as easy as a click on the Google search would help discard off your crude Aba statistics, anyday anytime.
Contrary to your crudity, Abiola could only manage a win in Anambra, clearly won in Cross Rivers except for Rivers.
Cure your ignorance.

As soon as Ovie Omo Agege was declared the elected Deputy Senate President of the newly inaugurated 9th Senate, celebrations rent the air from across every part of the country except that the Igbos were cold.
Igbos hardly could stomach the defeat of their son to a son from the Urhobo constituent part of the Niger Delta. As at the time of my writing, No Igbo has been seen to have congratulated the new DSP. Some of them, including a Nairalander( igbo), created a thread announcing his quitting politics on the account of the defeat of Ekweremadu while many others, in a very shameful manner with shared sentiments, derided the person of the distinguished Senator Omo Agege with all kinds of insults so much so their forked tongue hypocrisy was made more prominent. Their reactions to say the least were utterly disgusting, whereupon the South South however must have a rethink.

Shortly after his humiliating defeat, Ekweremadu, in a bid to save face, gave a reason so stupid that makes him look too stupid in the eyes of a slowpoke. It came to no sane individual as a shock that his kinsmen would parrot his line of thoughts much as ridiculously as they are naturally wired.
Why are they conveniently unhappy with the SSoutherners those at ease they hypocritically tag along?

Consider this for a second; If Goodluck Jonathan had contested and won the 2011 Presidential election against an Igbo candidate, Would the Igbos have been happy with the South South?.. Before you say Yes, gently ponder on the atavistic egoism of an average group of people who consider it an affront having the minority SS knock them off the perch, down the lower rung of national relevance. Do you think such a people would have been graceful in defeat?.. But thankfully, Gej contested against a Northerner, thereby their support for him was robust and seemingly genuine.

However, this thread is not aimed to disparage any tribe rather a reawakening of the consciousness of an average SSner to age long falsehoods, wickedly culture of fake love and hypocritical political alignment for the sole purpose of economic domination. Quite unfortunately, a lot many SSners had lost touch with a sense of history of the pre-independence when their forebears were marginalized, victimized and subjugated during the defunct Eastern Igbo-dominated regional government. The voice of the past minorities couldn't have been wrong neither do the present elites of the minority subgroups whose disaffections for their friendly oppressors could have been more vociferous. The lesson thereof to the South South is such that they must get rid of the monkey off their back and believe that they could achieve whatever they desire just as they did earlier today. South South Be Wise!

Stop being ignorant. DSP ain't "common".
Igbos had it 12 years straight, even threatened to blow up the country such that they retained it in the last 4 years of Ekweremadu, despite being in the opposition. Had fate smiled on him, Okorocha would possibly have been the current DSP. Do not underestimate a seat of power.

Very pointless write up. Why would Igbos be jumping up at the seat of Deputy Senate presidency? Igbos did not even jump up when Ike Ekweremadu was elected Deputy Senate President in 2015. Igbos have held all the political posts in Nigeria from President to to common councillor so why would Igbos be be celebrating the election of Omo Agege?

And the so called SS you are talking about, you think the Efik man cares if Omo Agege is Deputy senste leader? Or the Ogoja man cares about Omo Agege? They dont even know where Urohbo land is. Hunger is killing people and you guys are making noise about Deputy Senate President that wont add a y value to the life of anybody except Omo Agege himself

My dear I just tire for all these emissaries of rift that feel they must type something on nairaland whenever they've eaten belleful. Very senseless and crap write up coming from a writer whose stupidity is beyond the power of science...inukwa!

Shall we wager on it?
I can tell you authoritatively that SS will be Pro SW come 2023.
They can't afford going through as hellish as the last 4 years. APC has given them a sense of belonging with the allure of juicier concessions in the next government.
All SS Opposition Governors endorsed the candidacy of a SW Speaker. It further tells you that all roads lead to one...

Saraki was d Senate president for 4yrs, how did it benefit average kwaran? Let's see how ovie been a deputy will benefit any aside from his immediate family.
Hatred has gotten to d point where even SS and SE are hating on each other. Its no longer SW&SE. May God punish all perpetuaters of this evil

I have the highest regards for Akuyili but do not ascrib her the glory she is not due. The farthest she could go was to address the media. She could not have done beyond mere talks, just as Jonathan confessed he had no idea his boss's whereabouts.
But of course, SW stepped in as usual and we saw the smiles on Jonathan & the SS.

I dare any SE Governor not to declare it a public holiday in iboland and to refuse to organize an elaborate series of event in memory of Chief MKO Abiola GCFR. Even more, I dare any Igbo civil servant not to pay Abiola & SW the honor of June 12.

Channel this same energy on calling out your "non performing politicians" in your constituencies. Who instead of constructing good roads, building schools, building world class health centres, awarding scholarships to the less privileged in your communities are rather commissioning pit latrines, bamboo bridges, collecting "dollar bribes" etc.

The people of S/E need to wake-up. Other regions are leaving them behind politically and if they continue with this politics of hate and sentiment, I hate to imagine what the future holds for them politically.

That said.
@op to say that igbos are not happy with ss concerning the DSP position is a very misleading. I know your plan is to divide ss and se but it won't work. And one thing you guys fail to see is that majority of ibos don't really care about politics. Don't judge them because of they few comments you read on line and gusset what most of them commenting are not even igbos.
