I'm writing this with the hope of drawing the attention of his excellency to this important issue.

I'm a medical student in one of the State Universities in the south-south region and I've seen how students from other states are been supported by the government of their states through bursaries and entitlements. These students are been supported with cash within the range of 50-150k.

I think the government should create an avenue by which Ogun state indigens in far away universities are been supported in cash. This will surely lift some burdens off our necks and redirect our focus.

Thanks.

OP, you have a point.

I hardly hear of 'Bursaries' in South West.

But it's so common among SS and SE states that even LGA chairmen are compelled
to abide.Failure to do so .... (you can guess the political implications)

Godfatherism is a very strong factor in South West politics now (Lagos in particular - not all SW states) .
This is not entirely so in SS & SE.

One of the bad sides of Godfatherism is that leaders tend to be answerable to their godfather (not the people).

In SS & SE, you can be popular with your people and get elected based on individual merit.

But in Lagos, the godfather must know you before you can even be given a party ticket. You have to oil the godfather's palms every now and then to get a reelection ticket.

What am I saying?
A politicians priorities are different in SS/SE vs SW. While a typical Lagos politician wants to warm his way to a godfather, a politician in SS/SE will want to warm his way to the people ... and you see, payment of BURSARY is one of the ways.
