Hi, I do remember when I was growing up, I grew up in Oraifite, Ekwusigo local govt area of Anambra State with my grand mum. I do remember that we had to wake up every morning to find several pythons in our compound. You see it is not allowed to kill pythons in most parts of Anambra State so my grandmother although a staunch Christian made allowances for this cultural regulation and no of these creatures were ever harmed in our compound, and it is worth noting that these pythons are the most gentle creatures even when stepped on, they slither away., I remember while sweeping the compound, I was always see struck seeing their shredded scale and stared at these for a long time.

But now in same village, I have never seen a python in the same village and the same compound as an adult but while a boy in nursery school I do remember a compound/village so in tune with wildlife that it seems like a dream now.

I use this avenue to call out people amongst us too ignorant to realise that we harm the balance in nature by kill off wildlife. For instance, I have seen pictures of people killing monitor lizards in their farms and put pictures of themselves cooking these animals, the thing is that when you kill a monitor lizards which is not a pest in your farm, you increase the aphids and other pests insects which this monitor lizards preys on. Same thing for non venomous snakes which clear rodents off your farm. These animals are not your enemies, your politicians are
