All study of nature of God defies our full human comprehension. It was St Augustin that was having a reflection on the Blessed Trinity along the sea shore where he met a little boy who dug a hole and was fetching water from the sea pouring the water into the hole. St Augustin couldn't comprehend what the little boy was set to achieve by this. He then inquired from the boy what his intentions were. "I'm trying to empty this ocean into this hole" the boy explained. "how do you think it is possible achieving this target?" Augustin asked. "it is easier for me to empty this ocean into this hole than you understanding the mystery of the Blessed Trinity", the little boy replied. At this juncture, St Augustin realised the futility of his mental struggle to unravel the mystery of the Blessed Trinity. Human intelligence is however poor when placed side by side with divine mysteries.
Much as we're not trying to dismiss the importance of attempting to understand at least in the barest minimum, the mystery of the blessed Trinity, it is more important rather to humbly approach it with the scope of drawing from the rich moral lessons that emanate from it. The word of Jesus Christ to his troubles apostles at the news of his plan to depart this earth were geared towards emphasizing the fact that knowing God as three in one should be at the center of our daily relationship with him and with our neighbors. (John 14:13-17). The Trinity in fact is the foundation of the Christian faith and anytime in the church history this doctrine is compromised, the major Bible tenets are being compromised as well.
The Trinity is a symbol of unity that should characterise the followers of Christ. It becomes a paradox observing the amount of rifts in our society and among Christians. Could it be that we're yet to comprehend the example of the Trinitarian communion? Christ prayed that we remain one just as He, the Father and the Holy Spirit are one (John 17:21). There is a deep desire for togetherness with others. It is part of how God made us: We need to be with other people in order to be fully satisfied and fulfilled in life. A lack of closeness with others leaves us very dissatisfied irrespective of how we pretend not to be.
Families are called to be the picture of God's face to the world. How can we make sure that the image of God the world sees when they look at our families it's clear, bright and in focus? The family should pray together. Praying individually makes us God's children but praying together makes us God's family-a domestic Church. Our families are called to love one another deeply taking from the love among the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit which knows no bounds. God wants your family to become an amazing work of art that shows his face of love to the world.
