I don't want to bore anyone with a rigmarole concerning this so called social exchange market Hocus pocus that has been on going in Nigeria for about three years now, but I believe that gullible Nigerians need the help of reasonable and well meaning compatriots.

First a brief history of SEM

About two years ago a mysterious man named Donald surfaced to claim to have received financial aid from world bank and some other world philanthropic organizations which he intends to disburse to poor Nigerians to help them escape poverty and start their own businesses. Many small scale NGOs sprang up as a front to reach the diverse masses and make sure the money gets to every corner of the nation. People dived at the opportunity, dishing out money ranging from 1000 naira to 5000 naira or more to these NGOs in the name of registration to be added as a beneficiaries for the coming grant.

But I don't joke when I tell you that ever since that initial time up until now, no single person have gotten as much as a Kobo from Mr. Donald and his minions. All they get is one convenient excuse or the other, yet people are still believing, still hoping and more people are still paying registration money, hoping for free millions that will never come. And what has the government done or said about this? Nothing satisfactory. The SEM people currently claim to be in court with the EFCC, but what's funny is that for months now no single hearing have taken place concerning the case. Every judgement day, they release one ridiculous excuse or the other; One was that the presiding judge lost a family member and couldn't sit for the session.
