AFRICA AND THE LUST FOR FOREIGN COACHES.

The problem with Nigerian football is the administrators look for an expatriate that can’t earn $15,000 (USD) in his country and pay him

$50,000 (USD) in Africa. Do you think that if these expatriate coaches could earn half of what they are paid in Africa in their home countries,

they would carry their C.V's around looking for jobs. Do you think that if Gernot Rohr could get a job in Germany he would take the security risk

of coming to Nigeria to search for a job? Do you think that he would come to NFF (Nigerian Football Federation) to submit his credentials if he

could get a job in the German 2.bundesliga or the German 3.liga.

When was the last time he coached an European side. What is Nigeria doing with a coach sacked by Burkina Faso, sacked by Etoile du Sahel,

sacked by Fc Nantes, sacked by FC Frankfrut. What?

Any African coach would perform 10 times better than an European coach if he/she is given the same resources in his/her country because they

understand the attitude of their local players and feel secure in the environment.

European coaches do not feel shame or disappointment after losing a football match to a rival or a weak opposition because for the job is just

another pay check. As soon as they get sacked they start looking for the next pay check in African or retire to their home countries and leave

on their pension for the rest of their lives.

European clubs do not respect European managers/coaches who win the AFCON or have a success with African nations because they

understand that a foreign managers/coaches success in Africa is largely dependent on the help he get from his (African) backroom staff,

technical director, assistant coach(es), scouts, etc and most importantly the amount of financial support from the local federation.

The case in point is totally different from that of an European coach managing an European club especially with a technical director as in

common in Europe. Some African football federations are even desperate enough to higher an European coach that comes from country that

has failed to qualify for the world cup to take their country to the soccer mundial.

A look at expatriate coaches that have handled African teams and where they are now.

Berti Vogts ex-nigerian super Eagles coach current state Jobless.

Milovan Rajevac (EX- blackstars coach earned $50,000 a month in Africa) Jobless

Ratomir Dujkovic (EX- blackstars coach) Jobless

Phillip Troussier Jobless

If they are so competent why are they jobless in their countries? With the level of organisation in European football?

They could easily become technical directors or managers in this clubs but no club in league1, league 2 or even league 3 is willing to employ them.

I was in France reporting when when Herve Renard tried to get a Ligue 1 or Ligue2 side to employ him before he was emploed and promptly sacked by Lille.

African football administrators need to understand that an African team is better managed by African.
