Dear Nairalander!,Please Help
What you are Reading Now didn't Occur to me but
to my co NYSC Roomie this year 2019...
His NYSC account was Hack and Debited by an
unknown fraudster, he went to Bank to complain
and another ATM card was issued to him plus his
account was Block so that there won't be any
further Withdrawal.. After a month or two,he went
back there for he needs money,so they change his
Alert number to a new one,he collected 2k out of
45k and within an hour all his Balance gone again
remaining kobo...
He went to bank immediately after the Alert...To cut
the long Issue short,
Bank said they are unable to Trace the person
because the fraudster opened an Express account
without identity....
He has gone to the Police and Court base on this
and all Efforts has been Fruitless..
Please help a Suffering Copa....He is Anambra
2018 Batch B stream 2 and will be passing out
soon..

Someone close to him might be responsible for this kind of scam...
Too bad.

Sad one thou...Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that money is gone and completely untraceable.

The person should complain online by mentioning central bank handle and the bank handle in the complaint.

I would have say he should open a new account. But, what if the fraudster has a way of tracking or checking phone activities. A cyber security expert told me it's possible .With checking the phone activities, he would be able to know your password, Bvn, Card, and the likes. Heard the access is gained through some Wi-Fi synchronization, like if you just connect to all this public Wi-Fi anyhow.

Since the bank can't trace it, i think it is better to either Format his phone or rather get a new one and if possible, he should open another account , with a new Sim and a new BVN , and they should block that former ATM card.

I concur base on that BVN change but the Bank Official is suppose to let that known at least...

Money doesn't just develop wings and fly out from your account, something must have gone wrong without you knowing it.

As a corper, stop opening links sent to you buy unknown persons to fill in your banking details and get cash rewards, stop patronizing unknown merchant sites or pop ups asking for your card details.

Don't respond to messages from fraudsters claiming to be bank agents telling you that your account will be blocked if you don't sent them your card details.

One called me like that and was telling me he's from my bank, I asked him which bank he said first bank. Funny thing is since I started operating an account I've never banked with first bank so how will someone tell me that my account in a bank I don't use will be blocked if I don't provide my details so they can upgrade it for me. It's obvious he's a scammer, I just ended the call.

Be on the alert cos these scammers are everywhere...don't keep your card carelessly most especially if you have roommates.

Finally abandon that account and open another one.
