You said the Igbodomigodo people are not related to Bini until 12th century? first time I'm hearing this, Oranmiyan only brought his unique style of leadership to Igbodomigodo, he met with the Enogie's daughter and they birthed Eweka 1, Igbodomigodo Was later renamed to Ubinu by Eweka 1.

You view about the Itsekiri's is wrong, the itsekiri had no contact with the Ijaw people until they settled in present day delta. There are some autonomous communities in itsekiri to this day who traces their own origin to Ijebu. Like I said earlier, Itsekiri is a direct offshoot of various Yoruba clans, those from escravos migrated from the present day Ilaje, The itsekiri only adopted a Bini prince to rule them, thus the Olu of Itsekiri dynasty was created. So they are mixture of Yoruba and Edo.

see above of ur post, this is the link.

Bini and Igodomigodo are not the same.

It is like changing Urhobo to Bini and removing ur Urhobo king for Oba from Ile Ife. Are they the same?

U have to understand that Oba have been renaming and rewriting the history of Igodomigodo people to an adapted Ile Ife version.

He even gets to name the State Edo after a yoruba prince called Ado

Igodomigodo people were conquered by Oranmiyan and many fled East from that war.

They call it Idu and Oba war.

Forget all this petty fights in NigerDelta today for a minute, all the tribes there have a very long history that date back nearly 1000 years. Though not always peaceful.

Itsekiri are not full blooded Yoruba, they are mixed with Igodomigodo and Ijaw who are their neighbors.

Wat u call Ondo today is mixed Yoruba, Ijaw, Igodomigodo and Itsekiri. These are the people occupying that land.

Prince Ọranmiyan took up residence in the palace built for him at Uzama by the elders, now a coronation shrine. Soon after he married a beautiful lady, Ẹrinmwide, daughter of Osa-nego, the ninth Enogie of Edọ. He and Erinwide had a son. After some years he called a meeting of the people and renounced his office, remarking that the country was a land of vexation, Ile-Ibinu, and that only a child born, trained and educated in the arts and mysteries of the land could reign over the people. The country was afterward known by this name. He caused his son born to him by Ẹrinmwide to be made King in his place, and returned to Yoruba land Ile-Ife. After some years in Ife, he left for Ọyọ , where he also left a son behind upon leaving, and his son Ajaka ultimately became the first Alafin of Ọyọ of the present line, while Ọranmiyan (the exiled Prince Ekaladerhan, also known as Izoduwa) himself was reigning as Ọọni of Ifẹ. Therefore, Ọranmiyan of Ife, the father of Ẹwẹka I, the Ọba of Benin, was also the father of Ajaka, the first Alafin of Ọyọ. Ọọni of Ifẹ. Allegedly Ọba Ẹwẹka later changed the name of the city of Ile-Binu, the capital of the Benin kingdom, to "Ubinu." This name would be reinterpreted by the Portuguese as "Benin" in their own language. Around 1470, Ẹwuare changed the name of the state to Ẹdo.[3] This was about the time the people of Ọkpẹkpẹ migrated from Benin City. Alternatively, Yorubas believe Oduduwa was from the Middle East and migrated from that area to the present Ile Ife. Because of his power and military might he was able to conqurer the enimies invading Ife city. That was why the people of Ile Ife made him the King or Oni of Ife city. In any case, it is agreed upon by both the Yoruba and Edos that Oduduwa sent his son Prince Oramiyan of Ife to rule Benin City and found the Oba dynasty in Benin City.

@Efewestern Note the origin of the term Ile ibinu and Ubinu and Bini.

Efewestern

There is nothing like bini, the real people are Igodomigodo.

Bini is the word ile ibinu, given after the Yoruba conquest of Ogiso territory and established the bini territory.

Samething with Ado. The word Edo is derived from Ado, which is the name of the First Yoruba prince of Igodo land.

This is where many people get confused and start thinking Urhobo or Igbodomigodo people are yoruba becos Oba is yoruba. wrong!

Where did you get this from? Please stop it!

Igodomigodo was NEVER conquered, infact there was nothing like Yoruba or Oyo during the era of Ogiso.
Oranmiyans father was pleaded with to return and reclaim his throne instead he sent his son who was escorted to Igodomigodo by majority of Igodomigodo people, who protected him and fought against Ogiamen the upsurper.

Ibinu, ubinu,Benin, bini are all borrowed words that were used by outsiders to refer to the people of Igodomigodo after Oramiyan left in anger, in the Edo lexicon there is nothing Benin just the was there is nothing like Lagos in the Yoruba lexicon.

First it was Igodomigodo during the Ogiso era then Idu before it was renamed Edo by Oba Ewuare 1 after his saviour. Edo was not named after Ado who was born in the 16th century.

We refer to ourselves as OvbiEdo not OvbiBenin.

There is no such word like "Ile Ibinu" in ancient Bini history, it was recently coined when the Edo and Yoruba supremacy battle started. "Ubinu" was the right word and it was used to describe the royal administrative centre of Edo kingdom. Ubinu was later corrupted to Bini by Portuguese speakers.

Apart from the Okpe clan of Urhobo who traces their origin to Ile-ife, the Urhobos have always maintained, from ancient time that they are from Bini, no one can even link Urhobo to Yoruba, you can do that with itsekiri, which is a direct offshoot of various Yoruba clans, not Urhobo.

Igbodomigodo is the first name given to the Bini empire, it was named by the first Ogiso, so Igbodomigodo = Bini, since we are referring to a people living in a given territory.

Bini and Yoruba shared a lot in common in the past, so its normal for both to steal some words from each other, reason for the Oba tittle I guest.
Ile ibinu is a word in ancient benin kingdom it means land of vexation. This word was used by the son of the oba that was hitherto banished from the kingdom.

there are rabbits being bred
And there are hares in the bush

Hare and rabbit look alike anyway.
But the marked differences are the size and that hares’ kittens have their eyes opened at birth unlike rabbits

This is “okete” in yoruba
Pouch rat in English language

Not so big anyway.
Bump.
How do you differenciate between the Okete (with that white tail ending) and the giant sewage rats you sometimes find in the big cities.

Second, I used to think the domesticated, edible animal called grasscutter is the same as Okete, but now it seems to me that Okete is a giant rat species of the pouch rat variant.
