Okay at first i didn't know where to post this topic but i finally decided to post it here.

Two years ago i read from SUN news paper that there was this shorlarship sheme being organised in Ogun state for virgin girls within the age of 18 - 22, but they had to go for a virginity test before they could qualify for the schorlarship. Many poeple frowned at it while others approved of it and it raised a lot of controversies at that time. Just yesterday i came across that same news paper and i began to wonder what virginity had to do with intelligence.

Fellow nairalanders (the ladies) if you were asked to go for this test, will you go? and what do you all think about the whole idea?

From what i think, they don't want to give those girls that schorlarship.
Nowadays, girls below 12 years aren't Virgins not to talk of a girl of 18 or 22.

I also read that article and all the girls protested violently at on hearing their demands which means that none of them are vigins. _{what a pity}

In as much as the whole thing is a bit amusing, its their scholarship and their rules, whatever blows their trumpet.
Maybe they have their hidden agenda, who knows? (maybe they want to honour virgins)

Good thing to honour virgins

For me; at that age you shouldn't be anything more than a virgin except you are raped or abused.

It takes a high level of moral standard to remain a virgin today with all the moral decadence. Any girl or boy who could withstand the pressures; may have what it takes to stand her grounds. Assertiveness skills is a great leadership tool. Whoever came up with the scholarship must have a reason. We don't frown at academic awards which excludes those who are not intelligent because they simply did not have facilities. We don't frown at ethnic awards. I don't think we should carry placard against this; the worst case scenario is for anyone who is upset to start an award for an adolescent who has had the most sexual partner if that has any intrisic leadership value.

Sounds to me like some government official in Ogun State has just cooked up an official excuse to poke his nose into the vaginas of a bunch of young women under the pretext of inspecting their virginity. Where do I sign up as a virginity tester ? I will do this job for free. Better still, I am prepared to PAY for the privilege of doing this job.
