In some cases, mothers-in-law make life unbearable for their sons' wives but there are several things you can do to make sure things between the two of you are smooth.

1. Give her respect

This is by trusting her, valuing her decisions or advice. Since most families do not miss clashes and disagreements, ensure that you discuss them out and come up with a solution better for your relationship with her and your husband. Always consider that she is wiser and older than you.

2. Be attentive when she is communicating with you

Make sure that you give her your ears and get her involved in any conversation that is nagging you or in a situation you wished to be handled in a certain way. This will help you get along better with her and create stronger bonds that are good in making your relationship flourish.

3. Always be positive

Do not approach your mother-in-law with negative thoughts concerning mothers-in-law. Be free and ask how things are done. Do not try to compete with her because this will bring out negativity. Be happy, do not appear gloomy every time you come across her. Maintain a smiling and friendly face.

The above should be the advice for EVERYONE to follow, mother in law included... Nobody should respect anyone that doesn't respect you, etc
