Training a merchenary with government fund. A foreigner. 66yrs old
The man they pay more than $20k per month.

It is sad we have fools at leaders

The 2 countries that played in the finals used home based coaches. former players

Nigeria is sick all round

If you must go for a foreign coach, go for the one you don't have to pay to train again!

African Cup of Nations champions Algeria have received $4.5 million, Senegal $2.5m, while third place contestants Super Eagles and Tunisia earned $2.m.

Algeria lifted their second ever AFCON trophy after narrowly beating Senegal 1-0 in the final last Friday night. Following the end of the tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have revealed the prize money for all participant countries.

As for hosts Egypt they will receive $670.000 following their disappointing elimination from the round of 16.

The prizes will be distributed as follows:

Angola and Kenya (Third place in group-stages):
$620.000
Round of 16: $670.000 (Benin, Uganda, Egypt, Mali, Guinea, DR Congo, Cameroon and Ghana)
Quarter-finals: $800.000 (Madagascar, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Benin)
Semi-finalists: $2 million (Nigeria and Tunisia)
Senegal: $2.5 million.
Algeria: $4.5 million.

And despite these huge amounts the corrupt officials and ministers won't pay our athletes saying the money was properly spended.
Such bloody rogues we have allowed to ruin us in government.

engineerboat:
The Minister for Youths and Sports Development Solomon Dalung in his bid to justify how properly his ministry spent funds allocated to it says ‘funds spended are well spended’.

The House of Representatives committee on sports summoned Dalung and other officials to appear before it in a bid to tackle pending issues on disbursement of funds to the various federations.

In a video posted by Channels Television, the sports minister who has been at the centre of criticisms denied allegations that his ministry is corrupt.

“Before we left for Rio (Olympics), we wrote and requested for the release of monies appropriated for in the budget and it has not been released for the federations.

“450million (Naira) was appropriated for the Olympics and we spent far far far beyond that; so monies that were given to the federation could not have been monies meant for Olympics,” Dalung stated.

The statement did not go well with some members of the committee who believe the sports ministry should not have spent more than the provisions in the budget.

"It is a serious matter, because he is spending outside the confines of the approval given by the national assembly," says Danburam Nuhu a member of the Senate committee on sports.

Dalung replied: “The funds ‘spended were properly spended’ because we got them from intervention funds from Mr. President.”

$4.5 million?

So it is not even upto the money that one Andrew Yakubu from kaduna state stole as an NNPC GMD that year and over 24 countries are fighting for it when Mr Andrew could simply buy us the 2019 and 2021 trophies with the $9,772,800 and still have some change left.

FIFA pays out $60m to world cup winners and the best CAF can do is $4.5m? #Thieves.

CAF EXCO members just live large on the back of FAs. Always in one scandal or the other for pilfering.

All participants should be entitled to a payout regardless of whether you finish bottom of your group.

Afcon prize money is very poor. Even match bonuses for Nigerian players for the entire tournament is about twice the prize money given to Nigeria. What are they then competing for? This competition is basically for national pride, not business-wise at all.

Afcon prize money by now should have gone up to as much as $15m or there about. Upon all the sponsorship and television right fees. This people should do better abeg

Senegal money nor reach. Around 3.5 dollars would have made more sense.

Around 2.5 million for Nigeria would have made sense. It seems no reward for winning 3rd place game.
Nigeria was rewarded in addition with the Silver while Tunisia got no silver

The difference between the cash prize for 2nd and 4th is too close ($500k) - unfair to 2nd.
