The Empire he so nostalgically wishes to revive was signed away by the Treaty of 1886, ending the 16-Year wars in Yorubaland. Even at its apogee, the suzerainty of the Alaafin's Empire didn't cover all of what's now known as Yorubaland. For example, no king related with the Alaafin on any basis in my native Ekiti Country until the Western Region came.
