Hello house, thanks for checking this post I have issue regarding my project topic. The topic is " corporate governance and the relationship between default risk and earnings response ". In my findings I realised default risk is my independent variable and earnings response is my dependent variable while the corporate governance moderate the relationship between the independent variable and dependent variable. After submission of drafted chapters I was informed the variables classification was wrong. So my question is what variable is corporate governance, default risk, earnings response according to the topic?

Board expertise
Board independence
Board gender
Audit committee
Earnings management should be your dependent variable

Actually i don't av idea on what cooperate governance or what default risk is ....
But independent variables are those a researcher or an investigator can alter or manipulate systematically in a research.... For example. Effect of noise on level of assimilation. The independent variable is noise. Y the depent variable which is the outcome or the one measured, to know aw it has been affected by the independent variable, is the level of assimilation. Because the noise could b reduced which will av effect on level of assimilation
We also have an extraneous variable which is also known as destructive or confounding variables are those that disrupt the effect of independent or dependent variable....if not put under control by an experimenter. For example. A researcher whose interest is on whether the extension of study time will have effect on students poor performance, the confounding variable may b the temperature of the room where the study is been taken place, because no matter aw long the study time is been extended, if the students ain't comfortable with the study room's temperature, they will never comprehend what they're studying...which makes an extraneous variable a destructive variable which can render the work of other variables useless if not controlled.

Hello op. This is what I feel your supervisor wants from you is In your chapter two. You would discuss three variables and then link each of them. For an undergraduate this may be difficult however nothing is impossible.

Literature Review
2.1 Concept of risk management
Here you discuss everything about risk management.
What are various authors definitions of risk management?
What are the types of risk?
How is risk management measured?
At the end of the review you state your definition and which of the measurement of risk you are going to use

2.2 Concept of earnings management
Discuss literatures on earnings management. Explain the definitions given by various authors. Discuss how earnings management are measured. Tell your supervisor which of the measurement are you using.

2.3 moderating effect of corporate governance on risk and earnings management
Discuss briefly on what is corporate governance.
Discuss the variables of corporate governance you want to use. For example the suggested variables are
1.Board gender: Discuss how board gender affect risk management. Take note that most women are sensitive to risk than men. Men easily take huge risk compare to females. Download a journal on board gender and risk management. Use the literature there on this point.
The next paragraph would be how board gender affect earnings management. Here you discuss how women are sensitive to earnings management. Earnings management is the use of accounting techniques to produce financial reports that doesn't show the true state of the firm( layman view). Download journals on board gender and earnings management. Use the literatures to discuss this point.

Here you link your independent and dependent variable. I suspect your dependent variable is Risk management while earnings management is the independent variable.
Download a journal on this point; Risk management and Earnings management. Go straight to the literature where these variables where linked. At times it might be brief empirical literatures but the most important thing is to link the variables
