He Just got a job this year March with a private Ltd company. The employer have been taking 5%off his salary and that applies to all staffs. Pls is this the norm in all companies for now? Your advice is needed. Thanks

The normal calculation
20percent of your annnual salary plus 200,000minus gross income equals chargeable income
mutiply by 7% of first 300,000
next 11% next 300,000
15% next500,000
21%


If you are paid N45,000 as salary your paye equal
45,000*12 = 540,000
20%*540,000 = 108,000 plus 200,000 =308,000

chargeable income = 540,000-308,000= 232,000
if the chargeable income was below N200,000
1 PERCENT SHALL BE USED
Other wise
7PERCENT *232,000
TAX PAYABLE ANNUALLY 16,240
MONTHLY 1,353

....so by this calculation, he need to be paid 90k for him to pay #2,706 as Tax per month. He's been paid 60k per month as salary and deduct #3,000 monthly from his salary as tax. Making his take home to be 57k. No tax card, nothing.

I don't know why people are not concern about this tax issue. Yet, it's a very vital issue that affects us directly as a people. Nigerians have been defrauded by this so called employers of labor over the years and no one is doing anything about it till date.
