Very quickly today, we shall be looking at some common words or group of words we use in our everyday conversations that are actually not correct or are not found in the Standard English Language.

Do you know there is nothing like:

This month is your month of divine upliftment?

Why? - there is no such word like upliftment in the English language. We coined it for ourselves. What exists in the standard English language is uplift or uplifting.

So, you should say:

✅This month is your month of divine uplift or divine uplifting


*My sister's husband is just a Godsent to this family?*

Why? - you cannot find such word as Godsent in the English language dictionary. You can use the two words separately in a sentence, as in:

God has sent my sister's husband to us in this family

Now, the correct word to use is *Godsend* which means[i] a good thing that happens unexpectedly and helps somebody or something when they need it[/i]. So the sentence should be corrected as:

✅My sister's husband is a Godsend to this family




*I don't like making friends with gossipers?*

Why? - the word _gossipper[/i]_ is alien to the English language. We Nigerians coined it for ourselves. The right word is _gossip_ which can be used as a noun and as a verb, such as:

✅ I don't like making friends with gossips. (as a noun)

✅I don't like the way she gossips around. (as a verb)



*My younger brother is now a matured man?*♂

Why? - there are just two ways to using the word [i]_mature_, one, as a verb and two as an adjective.

When used as a verb, it takes "-ed" in the past tense form but will not take a noun immediately after it, as in:

✅[b[b]]*My younger brother has grown so matured now* or *My younger brother is matured enough now*[/b]
[/b]
When used as an adjective, we describes a noun and thus should not take the "-ed" form, as in:

✅*My younger brother is now a mature man*_



� *I don't really like people with k-leg?*

Why? - what exists in the standard English is _knock - kneeled_ (Are you trying to laugh?)
