A CLARION CALL ON HIS EXCELLENCY, CHIEF NYESOM WIKE, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF RIVERS STATE TO FIGHT THE INCREASING INSECURITY AND CRIMINALITY IN THE STATE MORE WITH A RESPONSIVE GOVERNANCE. [sub][/sub]
- Rivers State APC Visionary Media Team (RAVIMT).

As a concerned group, the Rivers State APC Visionary Media Team (RAVIMT) is constrained by the increasing insecurity and criminality in the State to call on His Excellency, Chief Nyesom Wike to fight the insecurity more with a responsive governance and less with the show of executive power.

It is an undisputable fact that security and peace can only be found in a State or nation, where:

1. The government makes deliberate efforts to make the citizens (more especially the youths) believe that benefits and economic rewards can only be gotten through legitimate means and anybody caught in the act of crime will certainly and uncompromisingly face the full wrath of the law, irrespective of political affiliations or interest. That has clearly not been the case in our dear State.

2. There are employment opportunities for the youths and people. The Governor should do well to partner with the Federal government on the agricultural revolution and other self sufficiency policies to creat jobs and engage our youths. This is because an idle mind is the devil's workshop.

3. The government through it's agencies should prioritize the reorientation of the youths. There should be massive a reorientation through the media, the government should also engage resource persons to our primary and secondary schools to engage our children on the dangers and pains of cultism and criminality.

4. Armed gangs are seen as public enemies and also enemies to political leaders both in secret and public; and at the time of election and governance. We urge the State government to promote a tradition of discrimination and rejection against all members of armed gangs.

5. Finally, where education is the number 1 priority of government. Education is key, it is one sector that is capable of solving the problems of other sectors; be it health, environmental degradation and insecurity.
An educated mind will live a healthy lifestyle and protect his or her environment. In fact, most of the perpetrators of this criminality in the State are illiterates who see kidnapping and cultism as the only way to financial independence.

We urge the governor to look into the above suggestions as more important in solving the problems of insecurity than the show of executive power, and to as a matter of urgency appoint his cabinet of noble men who can drive these policies selflessly.

Believing that everywhere in the country is insecure like our State is a self deceit and an indication of unpreparedness to solve our problems, but believing that we are the most insecure State is wisdom and an indication of preparedness to solve our problems; a problem that is not selective of political party, tribe or religion.

Rivers State is our own, we don't have anywhere to run to and so we must all show concern irrespective of political affiliation. .

May God help us.

Robertson Jack,
Director General,
Rivers State APC Visionary Media Team (RAVIMT).
