Olowo installation: ODSG assures adequate security, as traditional rites begin on Friday


Ondo State government has assured all the invited dignitaries within and outside the country of adequate security arrangement ahead of the installation of the new Olowo-elect, Prince Gbadegesin Ogunoye.

Speaking on the security arrangement put in place to ensure hitch-free traditional rites that precede the installation, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Security Matters and chairman security sub-committee of the installation, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, said adequate security strategies have been put in place for the smooth traditional rites and installation processes.

He, however, warned hoodlums and all pickpockets to stay away from all the processes or be ready to face the consequences.

The traditional rites ahead of the installation of the new Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Gbadegesin Ogunoye, would begin this week Friday.

Dojumo explained that members of the security sub-committee have met with installation committee and other relevant stakeholders including the Omo-Olowos to ensure peaceful processes, saying that government is leaving no stone unturned to make the entire installation ceremony hitch-free.

He also added that all strategic areas and points where installation rites would take place have been well manned by the joint security operatives all in the bid to protect the lives and property of both the citizens and the invited guests, before, during and after the installation.

The chairman security sub-committee who assured all the citizens and the invited guests of adequate security, also appreciated all sons and daughters of Owo and relevant stakeholders for their positive roles and support to ensure successful outings.

Also speaking, the Senior Assistant to the governor on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr Doyin Odebowale, stressed that all the invited guests and residents of Owo kingdom have nothing to fear as government is being proactive about the security arrangement.

He added that government was also guiding against any possible stampede owing to the mammoth crowd within and outside the country that would attend the installation ceremony, describing the stool of Olowo as very important tool within and outside the country.

Odebowale added that all the arrangements being put in place was to ensure things are done properly and successfully without any hitch, just as he called on Owo sons and daughters to continue to maintain peace as the traditional rites ahead of the installation begin on Friday.
