If you live in certain area in Lagos that look very BEAUTIFUL when when it rains heavily with attendant flooding, you will appreciate the extent of responsibilities on Engr. Joe Igbokwe's shoulders and how much you should pray for him to succeed.

It is a sensitive job. It is tough task to undertake. He should get ready to be resisted, blackmailed and tribally abused by residents, who will be affected by the solutions he will offer. However, If he could succeed, he will write his name in gold in Lagos State history.

By the way, Joe Igbokwe is a true Nnewi son who is far more Igbo in quality and quantity than some of his critics.

Was he made a commissioner or special adviser?

This man just got one of the most difficult jobs in Lagos. This is time he must apply his Engineering skills.

I thought he was made a special adviser?

Not directly... But, the spotlight is due to the fact that he is an outsider... Most want him to fail woefully (both his tribesmen and core Lagosians who see him as an opportunist).

You criticising Joe Ignokwe are daft and ignorant to know that Tinubu is training an Igbo boy to be a Governor of Anambra State in 2023 like he did to Fashola and Aregbesola...

I love this but people are not getting the politics behind

Yes, he is a special adviser to the governor on drainage and water resources.

That means he doesn't have a difficult job after all

If you are asking that, then you haven't been abreast with his staunch pro-APC stance even to the point of dissociating himself totally from his ethnic group...

Some actually believe his appointment was a deliberate act of mischief by Tinubu to further spite his Eastern kinsmen.

No!, he is only a special adviser to the governor!

I am not obliged to answer him and he is not empowered to request my obedience.

Boss, you failed to note that Joe Igbokwe is not appointed to head a ministry, but to advice on drainage.

I also think that Joe supposes not to make his speech look like a ministry has been left in his care to run.
Last time I checked, Gov. Sanwo Olu appointed him advicer, not an executive in any guise.

Nonetheless, I still have full respect for Engnr. Chief Joe Igbokwe.

Yes I am... He was a very successful banker and financial manager, and had a sterling career as budget manager for Lagos state.

I think the SA post was just to wade off unnecessary issues while relating with the civil service which is predominantly Yoruba as a commissioner, same issues are highly unlikely to occur as an SA, also some SA(I hope he's one) are closer to the principal due to the nature or scope of their job description.
Anyhow it is, he should sha work well on canals to avoid the constant flooding experienced in the state.
God help him and the rest

Good. So back to my initial question. Were there any issues raised by d public over d appointment of akabueze just like its happening 4 Joe igbokwe right now? Did any at d time "actually believe Akabuezes appointment was a deliberate act of mischief by Tinubu to further spite his Eastern kinsmen?"

Absolutely not... Joe Igbokwe's case is peculiar due in part to his political stance during GEJ's tenure. He has been alienating himself from his tribesmen since then...

Akabueze on the other hand was not outspoken, and more proprietary.

I mentioned Tinubu due to the prevailing political disharmony of the February elections.

So it has nothing 2do with Tinubu, Yorubas or with what happened in February cos igbokwe isn't d first Igbo Tinubu has brought into LASG. Neither does it have anything to do with Igbos cos this isn't d first Igbo man who has served LASG. If igbokwe doesnt have a good public image in Lagos state, then he has himself to blame & not easterners or yorubas who u say dont like him. D position of special adviser for igbokwe is nothing special. Its just an office created 4 him for d purpose of chopping

We both know all these things... Truth be told, he has long been due for an appointment...

Whatever furore over his appointment, and the spotlight I mentioned are his own personal doing due to his belonging to the opposition party, and comments made during the IPOB and Kanu debacle.

Engr. Joe Igbokwe is a full member of Lagos State Executive Council who was duly appointed, screened and approved by Lagos State House of Assembly, and sworn in. Yes, he is not designated as a commissioner but an adviser but what drives any good government are good ideas and implementation plans. Any any person following the plan can execute the project(s). If Engr. Igbokwe working with other members of council, could synthesize workable ideas into functional solutions and implementable plan, Lagos environmental will be much better for it.
