Tammy got home in the evening, not too happy with everything that happened at the office but since she couldn’t take it back she just had to accept what happened. She showered and fixed herself something to eat. Then she got a call from Yolanda.
“Girlfriend, I’m waiting today is Friday. Where are you?” She asked impatiently.
“Yolanda chill! I’m sorry I won’t be able to sleep over at your place like I promised. Maybe I’ll check on you tomorrow after fixing my hair”
“I know you won’t come, ever since I came to town you’ve never pass the night at my place and I have done that a couple of time at your place”
“Yolan…..”
“What’s so special about that bed of yours that doesn’t allow you sleep out” Yolanda queried.
“And I really had the mind to pass the night o but something came up. As for my bed, I’m ready to give it up for you and I promise to make it up to you” She promised.
“I’ll remind you that you said that” She joked and chatted with Tammy for few minutes before ending the call.
Minutes later, the door bell rang. She wasn’t sure if it was him or not since he didn’t say a word back at the office. She opened the door and it was him looking stunning as ever. He was wearing a casual outfit meaning he had gone home to change.
“Your wife?”
“I haven’t seen her for weeks now”
“Work?”
“Nope! At her mum’s” He replied. “Here” He handed the things he brought to Tamilore was looking cute in her ash colour joggers and pink tank top. Her hair packed into bun, making her face look younger than her age. She had showered earlier when she returned from work and was actually cooking before Femi showed up.
She took the grocery bag from him and thanked him. He tagged along with her into the kitchen
“You know the things that baffled me about your wife's negligence is that her Mum still stands behind her in all this. Who does that?”Tammy said as she stirred the food on the burner, and put the gas cooker off.
“That’s my mother in-law for you, it’s not easy to have a celebrity for a child, her daughter is now her god. Everything Tara does is right in her sight” He said as they went back to the parlour.
Femi took a seat and she took the seat opposite him. “I’m sorry about what happened in your office today. I didn’t know we had company” Femi apologized.
“Must you spell it out?” She jumped on his word as if she was already waiting for him to spill it.
“I apologize. And you shouldn’t be ashamed of facing me”
“I’m sorry I shouldn’t have gone to that length to prove my point, I acted irrationally” She apologized too.
“Yeah you should apologize because you actually drive me nut with that banging body of yours” He admitted.
“Stop! She threw a pillow at him and smiled.
“Now I know you don’t have liver”
“Oh! It’s you that have, right. Why did you run then” She tackled.
“The Bible says flee from all appearances of evil. I only acted base on God’s words”
“And I’m the evil, right” She queried and throw another pillow at him.
“Of course you are not. I’m just saying….
“It’s okay. What can I offer you?” She cut him off.
“Have you taken dinner?” He asked.
“No. And you?” She asked and he replied by shaking his head sideways.
“I’ll go serve dinner now, Married bachelor” She said and went into the kitchen.
She set the food on the table before him and she watched him eat. She planned on eating later. Before he could finish the meal, he had started passing so many compliments. Tammy only said thank you, she was glad he enjoyed the meal and he looked satisfied and this really pleased her.
Tammy had some new movies she got in the course of the week, she asked if he cared to see the movies with her. He agreed and they both watch. They sat next to each other on the couch. The movie was a romantic drama and the love story was a pathetic one, she was touched as the movie played on not knowing she had unconsciously curled into his arms.
Yes, she was right in Femi's arms. She had some tears drop on her face. Femi noticed she was sniffing and cuddled her. He made her head rest on his chest.
“It’s just a movie” He said, looking into her eyes.
“I know…..” She said and Femi wiped the stray tears.
“Femi” She called out softly. He understood the message she was trying to pass.
“You are in my arms. Nothing more” He said. Then the door flew open.

“Tammy! So this is the mysterious guy you’ve been hiding from me right. Well…. I caught you red handed today” The over mischievous Yolanda said as she bumped in on them. The door was actually unlocked.
Femi stood up and gave her a handshake. “You must be Yolanda right?”
“Wow! You even know who I am and this girl here never told me jack about you” She replied Femi.
“That’s because there’s nothing to tell!” Tammy butts in.
“Hmm…there’s nothing to tell indeed even though I know what I saw. Anyways, what’s the name of this handsome man before me?” Yolanda asked.
“Femi! Femi Brown!” He replied her.
“I’ve heard that name before but I can’t really place it” She said trying to juggle her brain.
“You may, if you are in the business world” Femi chirped in.
“Of course I am. I work with Marcos Business Institute”
“Really, you should know me then. I’m one of the nominees for the Under 40 CEOs award”
“Yes! I now get where I heard the name from. And I really want you to win, you really deserved it based on what I heard about you”
“Thanks, I hope I win too. I’ll take my leave now, make yourself comfortable” He said.
“No, you don’t have to go, I’ll leave now. I just sensed something is going on, for my friend to cancel on me. You know….”
“No, I’ll leave instead please have a good night” Femi said then he bent and picked his car key with his left hand then headed out. Tammy wanted to follow probably to see him off but Yolanda held her back with a straight face.
“Tammy! Are you nut or something! That guy is wearing a wedding band and don’t you dare tell me that it’s just a fashion ring. I recognized a wedding ring when I see one”
“Yolanda…..
“Start talking girlfriend!”
“Fine, he’s married”
“Blood of Jesus! Tammy!”
“Easy….We are not dating” She said and Yolanda laughed.
“Girlfriend, is that the best lie you can come up with! I saw you in a married man's arms and you are telling me I didn’t see well! Can you please come up with another lie? An intelligent one this time”
“I’m not dating him. Will you sit and let me explain”
“Explain what, I’ve been in town for a couple of months now and you never mentioned him. You have met my fiancé twice and you claimed you weren’t dating ever since your break up with Philip and….”
“Yolanda!” She called out and she calmed down.
“Fine! I’m listening” She said and took her seat. Tammy explained everything to her and because of the trust Yolanda has in her friend she had no choice than to believe her.
Yolanda thought deeply then responded to what Tammy disclosed.
“I’ve heard everything you said and sincerely, Femi’s story is really pathetic and I swear this will be between us. But my fear is that things may eventually get out of hand”
“I know and that scares me too” Tammy admitted.
“Girlfriend, how are you even sure that Femi Brown is not catching feelings already”
“Yolanda, I’m more scared of myself. I’m single and not dating presently. I’m vulnerable but Femi just has this trust in me that I can’t turn his heart against his wife”
“Hmm…. I hope he won’t be the one to turn his own heart against his wife because of you. What I saw earlier is a man who is willing to protect you with his life”
“Now stop Yolanda! Huh….you can exaggerate!”
“I’m positive that guy is already has feelings for you. You really need to take caution my dear”
“I’ll try. Thanks for understanding me”
“It’s okay. I’m leaving”
“Just pass the night here. It’s late”
“No way until you pass the night at my place, you won’t see me in this house anytime soon”
“I promise I will come next weekend”
“Hmm….That is if Femi Brown allow you to come” Yolanda with enough sarcasm.
“You are not serious, what’s his business with my life”
“Okay o, if you say so. Good night” She said and hugged her. Tammy saw her off.
Few minutes later, Tammy was all alone in her room. She was about to sleep then she got a text from Femi Brown. It was a good night and ‘thanks for the dinner’ message, nothing more. She sighed after reading it and slept.
