Please nairalander, I need a room mate in any states in America. I am ready to pay for a few day that i am ready to stay with the fellow before i get an apartment of my own. I will be travelling by tuesday. Pls help. I am arriving through New York airport.

It shouldn't be hard for you to find a cheap motel to stay in. I don't think anyone would be willing to open their doors/homes to a stranger.

This would have been possible before the credit crunch and recession, but now times are hard.

Look up hostelling international or hostels.com or similar variations online, you would be able to get reasonably priced accommodation, but you would either have to share with up to 5 others in a room from around $20/night or get your own room from $35/night. Mind you, some of them would require you to have some student discount card of some sort though.

Keep your wits about you and hold on tightly to your possession though, and don't relax thinking your things are safe cos you are in yankee.
