This footage captures the astonishing moment that thieves use keyless hack to steal a Tesla in less than 30 seconds. The entire theft was captured in the early hours of August 21 in London.

In the short clip, one of the hooded thieves, who carries what appears to be an electrical pack (the relay device) around his neck, can be seen raising two wires above his head while walking towards the house to pickup signals that are being emitted from the key fob.

As he does so, the headlights flash as a sign that the £90,000 Tesla is now unlocked. His partner in crime later opened the driver's door before zooming off.

The Homeowner, who said the car was being loaned to his brother, added that :

"It was absolutely shocking how quickly it went."

The truth is every car brand and model which can start keylessly can be unlocked and stolen with this relay device. But there are easy steps you can take to stop you from been the next victim of a relay theft.

Some experts have suggested storing your keys in metals such as the aluminum in a drinks can. Doing so will prevent the criminals from using the relay devices to pick up the key signals and steal your vehicle. Some experts also suggested keeping your keys in the fridge.

Accomplished Decorated and well equipped thieves!!
Well I believe Tesla will see this as an avenue to increase/toughen up their firewall and block every loopholes/backdoors so this wouldn’t repeat itself!
The thieves prolly showed them their weakness so Tesla’s team would work more on the weakness so no one can explore it again!

Is called side channel attack. Even if the keys are stored in cans, through metal communication has been demonstrated, so the signal can still be analyzed for keys.

This is why those who have keyless cars are advised to buy and use aluminum pouch for the keys.

The signal from your keys are really not secured and so hackers, can use it to move your cars.

What happened to the use of steering lock? Apart from the security that comes with the car, owners should also go extra mile to make use of the steering lock to avoid stories that touch.

After I watched the movie - "Cold Pursuit" and saw how Trevor a.k.a Viking flaunted this machine, I was impressed & planning to become the first & only owner of this "Tesla Model X" in the history of Ijebu Land. grin

But since the useless Amerikan machine is now being hacked like VP Osibanjo's Tweeter's account, I guess I will just stick with Mother Russia's "Aurus Senat" in metallic gold colour on 24-inch Giovanna Luxury Concave Wheels. grin

Going extra miles to secure your vehicle will prevent this kind of incident but then, is it wrong to relax in your home? It's understandable if you secure you car with steering lock when you park outside or in an unsafe location but in your home, you feel secure already. That's why I'll always thank God for providing me enough money to also mount fence with barb wires! You will have to get cut a few times and break the gate keys before you can steal my car!
The owner can afford a $90,000 car but he can't afford a parking garage in his home. Yeye dey smell
