Hello everybody,

I've finished my first draft of my third short story. Mikumbi, the lovable half Mbuti pygmy half Nilotic wizard warrior travels the continent of Ikwubara (an alternative version of Africa) dealing with supernatural threats like demons, demigods, mythical creatures based on African cultures.
Here's a snippet of my short story. I hope you guys enjoy it:

“Lion,” I boomed as I ran at him.

Within a yellowy-green flash, my musculature and mass grew, golden brown fur covered my body, hands and feet became instruments of death. Facial features feline, jaw more robust and canine teeth became large fangs.
I let loose a mighty roar as I pounced on the stranger. He held me back with his spear shaft, gnashing my teeth inches away from his face. Even with my increased size and strength, this bastard was still managing to hold me off.

“Having fun now?” I asked, speaking completely like a normal human while in a lion's body. Gotta love sorcery.

“A little,” he replied then he somehow managed to throw me off him, (the bastard made it look easy as well), “show me more.”

“Kifaru,” I boomed while charging at him.

This time I lost the golden fur, mane, claws and fangs as it was replaced with thick grey skin, larger bones and musculature, a much longer face with two large horns protruding from it. Let's see how he handles my charge.
The earth slightly shook as I ran. At least he wasn't foolish enough to test his incredible strength against a rhino.

Instead, he once again displayed his agility, by flipping over my horns. I let out a small scream as he managed to stab his spear into my... arse. To be fair a rhino's arse is a big target. Thank Khonvoum for the thick skin of the kifaru.

“Bigger enemy, bigger target,” the stranger laughed.

I gave it one final go. Lowered my head then charged.
He just stood there, calm. Who cares that a three ton animal is charging at you?
He thinks he gonna somersault over me again... wrong.
The look on his face as I 'disappeared' in front of his very eyes. Priceless.

“What the f--, Where did you go?” puzzled the warrior.

His head moved like a bird as he looked around for me, standing in the same spot.
By the look on his face it was probably one of the few times in his whole life that he's ever been shocked. Not truly afraid but certainly tense.
I couldn't help enjoying myself. Looking up at him from the wet grass... as an ant.

I timed my charge and distance to near perfection as I transformed into an ant. Of course I had to be careful of the rain and dew from the grass. He's probably always looked down on many people he's encountered, figuratively. If only he looked down right now to see me as a bug. A damn cute one. He would see me transform back to normal and he might have avoided my uppercut to his jaw.
Got 'em.
