The new Nigerian Correctional Service Act which has been signed into law has received good reactions and commendations from within and outside Nigeria.

It is expected to change the narrative about the Nigerian Prisons.


The deplorable situations that inmates go through in prisons across Nigeria make it difficult for it to serve the purpose of reforming those who are sent there.


It is reported that 57,748 inmates are in prisons across Nigeria and over 80,000 thousand of them are in overcrowded prisons.
