I have been wondering why our African counterparts have a tendency to lie about their age? can any person name instances of such sportspersons being exposed? |

It's a common gist/banter that I've heard often enough, in regards to African sports persons. You only need to look through some of the treads to confirm. I often hear the term 'real age' and 'football age' for example. |

Not all athletes do that but my thinking is they face different developmental patterns compared to their European mates. There are few African true age success stories like Kanu or Samuel Etoo but then he is a great talent. And even at that it took him four years to stabilize. |

Cause by falsifying their ages, they'll stay longer doing sports and making more money. That's why some of them stay longer doing sports before retiring after being exposed. |
