Been there a month ago

Outside, when you pass this open steel ball representing planet Earth , you see to your right some plastic bottles and some cans on the floor stuck in a net. You will first think that the lazy janitors out there didn' t do their job ( cleaning the yard ). No , it is the work of an artist educating people about the danger of those millions of plastic waste people dump in the ocean on daily basis around the world.

Once you go through the doors in front of you to your left there are all those drawings and pictures talking about the need to educate children (girls in particular).
To the right there is a bronze statue of a man . Hard to know who it is first , but when you get closer you can read
GIFT OF SOUTH AFRICA TO THE UNITED NATIONS.

it is Mandela. The artist was not skillful at all.
It proves how cheap the South African government is.
The small statue is about 5 feet high, not even close to Mandela' s real height and it does not look like him.

Inside the UNGA .
You expect to see those expensive shining desks and chairs, and those colorful carpets that strike the eyes in African presidential palaces .
NO ! The desks are just the ones you would see in a teacher lunchroom at a high school. Kind of surprising !
The UN is perhaps engaging in some public relation campaign to make the world believe they are not wasting those billions they get every years from world governments. Big lie !
