Numbers.
Just that your mentor committed self suicide.
Nothing is more derogatory like dying like a rat..a mini creature.

Do you know one fun fact about this rat poison and suicide theory of Awolowo?

It was formed, propagated and only know by Igbos.

Why?? To make themselves feel better about the food blockage policy during the civil war.

I will really appreciate it, if you could show us links of Yorubas posters mocking dying igbo children during the war, before kanu started insulting Yorubas on Radio Biafra.

Here are some quotes from kanu from radio biafra when he first started insulting Yorubas;

Kanu never said he hate Yorubas because Yorubas were mocking igbo children that died during the war. He just hated the Yorubas.

See a sample but there are thousands like them if you check. I don't know much about Kanu but I know many igbo people began to support him and IPOB because of stuff like that

You guys problem is that you believe the lies perpetrated by your elders without thorough research on your own. Ojukwu never released Awolowo, Gowon did.

Attached is the image where Gowon released Awolowo, and this is even gazetted in the New York times with the official speech of Gowon then.
Thanks for debunking the age-long lies and propaganda fed them by their elders.

Abi o

Part of yorubas are in Kogi, kwara and togo and Benin .

We're not lamenting
For example in a town called Ilara in Ogun State, the sitting room of a house is located within nigeria, while the remaining parts are in benin republic!

You keep spreading this rumours

Youruba never wrote to Britain to come and rule them.

In fact, Britain delayed the integration of Some Yoruba states to southern Nigeria because it couldn't get the Yorubas who were fighting a civil war under control.

There was a civil war between Ibadan and ijesha parapo, also between Ibadan and Ijebus.

it had to do with leadership of the Yoruba race after the fall of the Oyo empire because Ibadan wanted to force other Yoruba states to pay tribute to it.

Nothwithsading, a treaty of peace was signed in Ibadan amongst the various faction in the late 18th century in the presence of Oni, Alafin and British administration from lagos colony.

This is where some slow people coined the history that Yorubas begged the British to come and rule us.

That was Kiriji war fought between Ibadan and Ekitiparapo for about 17 years the peace treaty was signed on Thursday 23/9/1886: Samuel Johnson, Page 547.

The food meant for the civilians were diverted by ojukwu to biafan soldiers, hence the blockade.

. The dude you quoted is a newbie here.I mean who would compare the hatred spewed here pre 2009 to what is obtainable here now?

It was like the second Nigerian civil war was going to start here on nairaland.fast forward to 2015,it was nothing but political differences that can be traced as the cause but 2009-2014 was nothing but tribal war between igbos and the rest of the country

I was part of those who fought the e-tribal war here

old soldier lols e-tribal war indeed,
pls how many people died

Your argument does not make sense. I said that Kanu's outbursts on Radio Biafra insulting the Yoruba tribe greatly exasperated the animosity between the Igbos and Yorubas, and you are saying that people like you began to support Kanu because of Yoruba response to kanu's insults. That's called a cyclic argument. You even presented a nairaland thread of 2015, at the height of the igbos Yoruba tribal mud fest to buttress your argument that the Yorubas started the insults.

If you are honest with yourself, your second link -https://www.nairaland.com/1174823/kano-lost-38-igbos-2 dated 2012 was not the beginning of tribal mud fest. You will see that the Yorubas that hurled insults at the igbos claimed they are responding in kind to past insults on Yorubas.

How come you are oblivious to this thread - https://www.nairaland.com/745731/yoruba-marginalization-elders-met-jonathan opened in August 2011, which is earlier than the threads your posted, in which your brothers heaped insults on Yorubas for their elders complaining to president jonathan that his government is marginalising the Yorubas.

This is the very first comment on the thread;
Sunofgod:
GEJ should have just chased them out of the room.

Why even answer their questions.

SMH

This is the Forth quote of the thread;

chino11:
This is a welcome development, the Yorubas should be effectively and perpetually marginalized and schemed out, because they deserve worst things also. What did they achieve for their rotten Yoruba states during wasted years of the baboon called Obasanjorijo Useless and woe tribe. They should step up the complaint, GEJ will as usual and as always mess them up. They forgot that Tinubo sold them out for a pot of 'ewodu', the same way their foolish leaders sold out abioala to the almajiris to be slaughtered.
The insults was unsolicited, as the poster did not complain that he was responding to previous insults by Yorubas.

Go through that thread from the beginning, and tell me what was responsible for the Yoruba bashing. This thread actually contributed a lot the Yoruba -igbo hatred here on nairaland, even before kanu entered the fray.
