Gbam!

Free education my foot. Awo did nothing for the entire southeast.

Zik is the great "Nigerian" that every lived. If Awo is on that list, then Dr. Michael Okpara should be on that list.

Ask what? something I already know?LOL. There was no South, SW,SE, or SS. There was East, West, and North. Midwest came later on because they felt they were being marginalized my the yoruba.Awolowo was the Premier of the Western region, meaning he hand made no decisions for the East, Midwest, or North. Is it starting to make sense to you now or should i hand you a light bulb?

do u know that the edo ppl were the ones crying for the nigerian army to help them from this invasion by the liberation army of biafra

do u know that alot of edo and ijaws were killed by this liberation amry

thanks to ojukwu

Awo was the first to introduce free education in the country. At the time, he offered the same policy to the northern masses however the sardunna vehemently opposed him whilst Zik made fun of him. Zik later offered the same thing to his people. Note tho' that most of those igbo people now calling awo names, their relatives probably had their education free in the western region.

Regardless of what others might say, Awo will always be reverred by the yorubas. We shall always give thanks to our Oludumare for providing us with the person of Awo at that auspicious time in our chequered history. We will always be grateful to him for putting paid to igbo's hegemonic ambition in yorubaland. In essence we yorubas understand why the igbos hate Pa awo, so much. Much more than the northerners who have been killing their people as far back as 1945 and are still massacring them at the mere drop of the koran or the eclipse of the moon.

Hey, its their perogative to hate Awo but we yorubas love him.  grin

Very scary shocked. I'm sure now that Banjo purposely worked for the Nigerian army through Biafra to sabotage. If what was written were true definitely the Igbos would have fought against it as well. It sounded more like we wanted to enslave the west under his rule. If what was written is indeed true.

thank you for being honest!! wouldn't igbos have protected themselves undecided

my brother, that is the way yorubas saw things during the war!!! what do you expect them to do? just look?

YOU,OJUKWU AND I  know that if biafra had captured lagos, then most of yoruba land is gone.

you see, most biafrans don't look at both sides of the story. if ojukwu had captured the yorubaland, yu and i know that he would not let us go!!! pls inform you other igbo friends. it was even my igbo friends that told me this before t9ksy incidental brought an article that related to it.

^^^ But are they better off today? Right now they are crying for what Biafrans tried to avoid. Even the poster stated that his Hausa brothers were not kind to them and that goes to show why they have messed up that country so much.
Re: The Greatest Nigerians That Ever Lived (zik, Awo) by T9ksy(m): 2:39am On Nov 05, 2010
Thanks for supporting my claim. . Alj haram, read his post despite all his spiteful comment he couldn't help but admit the truth about awolowo providing education only for the WEST,not EAST or MIDWEST buck o.

My post wasn't meant to buttress your point rather it was made to stress a point which is, Awo provided free education, among mant other amenities to all who reisde in his region regardless of their ethnic affinity. At the time , the midwest was part of the western region then. Also many igbos living in yorubaland also enjoyed the facility. Had he being made the PM, he would have extended the same facilities to all "nigerians".

Very scary . I'm sure now that Banjo purposely worked for the Nigerian army through Biafra to sabotage.
Chyz, Banjo didn't have a choice in the matter. Remember, banjo was incarcerated in enugu by Ironsi then as were most of the jan '66 coup plotters i.e Lt. ("Major"wink Fola Oyewole, Capt. Adeleke and Maj. Ademoyega who was in warri prison. Ojukwu released them all (at the beginning of the war) and conscript them into the biafran army. Even if they had any objection to their conscription, do you think they were in any position to make this known to Ojukwu? Ojukwu will have no qualms killing them on the spot. Oh well, he did have Banjo executed in the end.

If what was written were true definitely the Igbos would have fought against it as well. It sounded more like we wanted to enslave the west under his rule. If what was written is indeed true.

@Chyz,

and why wouldn't it be true. Do ur own research and goggle the item. Ojukwu cannot refute the content of that letter or that he never wrote such.

Definitely an eye-opener. Although as an Igbo I still would have preferred Biafra. The Ibibio too because one of their own was the next in charge or the VP, Effiong. And the comment on the Ijaws, i don't respect them for the move that they made. When I say move i mean them agreeing to take the our land of Opobo given to them by the nigerian government in exchange for their help. Opobo is now called "Ijawland" angry.

Hold up don't toot your horn too much. I never said it wasn't true but I am keeping an open mind. I will even save the link and discuss it with other Igbo. Like I said before I have nothing against yoruba. I think all african tribes have a right to rule how ever it wants on its own people in their own nation.
Re: The Greatest Nigerians That Ever Lived (zik, Awo) by aljharem(m): 2:49am On Nov 05, 2010

pls igbo, appreciate the fact that igbo where in the south-west and benefited from free education, also the hausas and many other tribes in the south

but the igbos and the southerners benefied from this policy from a great man, which i think an intelligent person must like because awolowo was the lest tribal person after balewa

at least thanks to him the economy was not run down after the war

thank GOD
