I was teaching a group of students about bile formed in the liver.I told them human faeces have a characteristic yellow colour as a result of bile salts.Then one of the asked that why is it that goats' faeces are black or is it that they don't have bile salts. so erudite scholars in the house,help me get answers,though I have tried to do little research but I haven't gotten a satisfactory answer |

i think ita due to their diets and alimentary canal. they use bacteria for digestion more than we do and that has to make the fecal matter different. also, they feed on leaves. to get nutrients from leaves like proteins takes a long time and an equally long alimentary canal [the one of cow can be up to 50m], the numerous stuffs involved must make the fecal matter different. they have 4 stomachs [i true and three false ones]. so thats your answer, if you are not satisfied, ask Google 5 Likes |

The consum majorly greens. When greens go through digestive process it turns dark. Even in humans, when you eat excess bitterleaf and want to defecate, the feaces color will be different. ... Also goats don't eat salt. As a result, their fecal matter is always black or atimes slightly off green |
