It's amazing that so many people can support GEJ. Have you people forgotten which party he belongs to? Or have you all been sleeping for the past 12 years? Exactly what type of change do you expect the guy to bring? Did you ever hear him speak out when his fellow party members were busy robbing the country blind? Did he complain when they were rigging elections on he and his former oga's behalf?
The fact is that if you swim with sharks, you're are a shark and GEJ is the shark king. He's only hiding his teeth until after the election.
Anybody who willingly votes for the PDP needs to get his head examined.

Re: Who Will You Vote For In 2011 by bashr4: 6:33am On Nov 09, 2010
why are you guys not voting for pat utomi clearly he is of a new generation and untainted plus he has a clear laid out plan for nigeria ,what is wrong with us we cry for change and hope yet we dont want to initiate that change. Good luck has been in power since 1999 from deputy governor of bayelsa state to the governor then from vice president to president yet theres nothin to show for it not even in bayelsa.

I will withhold my vote until when it is time because change is the only permanent thing. At first it was Jonathan.Right now Buhari seems the best but who knows what will happen between now and April 2011.

2, GEJ doesn't have up to 50% as one would expect, meaning if Buhari, Ribadu et al form alliance, they may give GEJ a good fight.

Not true. Think demographics . Southerners use the net more than Northerners. I am almost certain that Northern membership of Nairaland is probably not up to 5% .  It is similar to how Southerners will be found in far larger numbers , as diasporans, in the UK and the USA than Northerners. This poll is therefore not representative of all Nigerian voters. If we include Northern votes Buhari will probably be ahead of GEJ. What this poll should then show the various camps is that Ribadu is strongly accepted in the South. If the progressive Northerners can eschew selfishness , in the desire to banish the ruinous PDP, they will see that Ribadu may be the man everyone must get behind.

Some Nairalanders should review their stagnant thinking with how they flippantly proclaimed that Ribadu is not "President material". What are we now seeing with every poll? The "inexperienced" Ribadu who should , according to some ,  "vie for a senatorial position" is consistently second to an incumbent in largely southern voting !!!!! The powerbrokers must note that Buhari is a gamble that may pay off or not  . Can Nigeria afford to gamble its national existence and the future of its children by giving the PDP another 4 years?

afam4eva:

Another thing . Why are you surprised Ribadu is second? Are we actually taking Nigerians for fools ? Even with his "inexperience" it is clear that Nigerians understand that Ribadu will fight our greatest nemesis, corruption, with vigour and sincerity far better than all the other candidate aside Buhari. Jonathan will falter . He is only enjoying sentimental votes at the moment because , in the end, sensible Nigerians , on the ground and in pain,  will not vote for a weak and incompetent President who has the most corrupt Nigerians as his backers. All of you voting for Jonathan please , if you are detribalised Nigerians who care for all regions, tell me if his handling of the Ogun State impeachment is satisfactory for even a half-decent President.

Can you deny , with his inaction, that Jonathan has clearly sided with Gbenga Daniel who is his campaign manager in the SW region? Do you backers of Jonathan not see what he represents for Nigeria with how he rewards dangerous judicial gangsterism rather than check it decisively before others are encouraged to copy suit?  If we really inspect the facts it is obvious that Jonathan has done nothing exemplary as President !!! Who has been brought to book for the Yar Adua health debacle ?  forged budget signature and all?  He has no history of dynamic performance. Why did Jonathan , with Nigeria's serious crime situation, appoint an IGP who is inferior , academically and performance-wise, to his senior officers? GEJ is highly averse to fighting corruption. In fact he is backed by Nigeria's most corrupt men. Anenih is Jonathan's backer . Nigerian roads are in a pathetic state because of Anenih's looting in the past . What is Jonathan doing with such a ruinous man who has killed many Nigerians through road accidents?

We know Jonathan is highly profligate and that is dangerous considering he is backed by corruption INC. He is anti-democratic and not averse to using odious tactics that drags Nigeria backwards in his quest to retain his job by all means. The worst is that those who have gotten us where we are (eg Daniel, Anenih, OBJ, Alao Akala, etc , etc ) will be allowed to continue with their looting, gangsterism and misrule if they help Jonathan actualise his ambitions. Nigerians better wake up and eschew ethnic mentality of "we must vote for our son" or "we must keep the North out of power"  .

You're right that's why i said according to Nairaland. Let's not also forget that one thing that Ribadu has going for him is not because he's a northerner rather it's because of the party on whose platform he's running.

PDP ,

a party that requires 2.2 million naira to purchase form for senator nomination form,

is an average responsible professional in any field would spend that money just to be in a position to serve,

A party that has Zoned its candidate no offences, they have it in mind to rig irrespective of the voters exercise,

Have they not produced the presidents in the past.

You dont have to sell the next four years of your life to find out if Goodluck will deliver,

He is good but in a corrupted league. he cant point fingers at his people.

Vote RIbadu now or wait till 2015 til you beg him in,

Don't let it bother you. Some people will see what needs to be seen in the end . We claim to want to see the back of those who have ruined our nation and destroyed lives yet some wan't to vote for a president ( Jonathan) who will return all those evil men and women to relevance to the detriment of Nigeria. Obama in Ghana , in a clear jibe at Anenih after Yar Adua appointed him NPA boss , stated that no Nation can thrive if the boss of its Port authority is corrupt . Everyone knows Anenih looted 300 billion  shocked shocked allocated for the road sector .

Through Yar Adua (another compromised leader like Jonathan) Anenih regained relevance as NPA boss with the opportunity to loot more and regress Nigeria further when he should be punished for the needless death of many Nigerians through avoidable accident caused by terrible roads he failed to revamp. Anenih is now one of Jonathan's top spokesman . Do Nigerians think there will not always be a position for Anenih in Jonathan's government? Now multiply that situation by a thousand Anenihs and the picture is clearer as per what a Jonathan Presidency will bring . Abeg Nigerians make una  think well well.

Have you heard that show me your friends and i will tell who you are. GEJ would do good. I agree, but with the coices we have, he is competent for the job. The party which he belongs to has pollicies which he cant change. They have a theme, a style, Yaradua was a nice man, but they dont really contradict the party that bring them in. RIBADU has no fear to step on toes. GEJ cannot step on toes that feed him, thats the difference. its not about being good. its about telling your father he is wrong when he is,

we need more than a mark
NIGERIANS NEED THE TRUTH, WE NEED RIBADU !!!

In all parties(not just pdp), you have them all-the good, the bad,the ugly. However we must understand the powers of the president , as the leader of the party, hence can change a lot of things even within the party. A pdp under OBJ would never have admitted atiku, when he could be a threat to GEJ's ambition. But GEJ has allowed him to run in the spirit of fair play.

Amechi , sullivan chime, danjuma goje are all pdp governors that have achieved so much unlike the alao akalas and ohakims of this world. The point is the elected official only needs to know what to do and the party will be left with little or no choice ,than to follow.

Talking about ribadu, not being afraid of stepping on toes, I may want to ask why his romance with tinubu. Tinubu like OBJ are part of the criminal elements in this country. Can ribadu under ACN attempt to step on tinubu whom he once labelled a criminal?

Besides i dont think ribadu has the tact to manage a complex nation like nigeria, it goes beyond being fearless. You need a high degree of diplomacy and self restraint. I think ribadu still needs some schooling in these areas.

I WISH WE HAD BETTER CANDIDATES , BUT BASED ON THOSE ON GROUND I GO WITH GEJ ANYTIME.

IBB and Atiku are doing very badly in the polls. I thought they were popular like the media would want us to believe. I don't see IBB becoming the president. The only thing that will work against GEJ is the fact that he has to face IBB in the primaries.
