A mother has shared heartbreaking pictures of her son showing how he became emaciated and gaunt after spiraling into drug addiction.

Jennifer Salfen-Tracy posted before and after images of Cody Bishop taken just seven months apart.

In the first image he is pictured looking athletic and fresh-faced, but in the second image Bishop's face appears more gaunt and his emaciated body looks much thinner, with track marks from intravenous injecting clearly visible along his lower arms.

The 26-year-old, who previously played high school sports, is almost unrecognizable. His mother described him as the 'face of heroin and meth' in her viral post on Wednesday.

Bishop was an athlete who graduated from Wentzville Holt High School, Missouri before suffering from drug addiction.

He is pictured (below) in March.

Don't do drugs guys, nothing good can come from that habit.

Drugs falling men since time immemorial, and the worrying issue about these addicts is that many of them are not ready to help themselves (or in some cases, surrender themselves for help) because to some, it is a normal way of life

Jeez what is this.To topic,i can cure him.I just need to lock him up in a place he can't have access to drugs again.Put him on good food stuffs and exciting sports for 5 years and he would surely recover.

The use of hard drugs has dare consequences. How I wish all these small small boys sipping different kinds of stuff in lag can see this. Almost every nook and cranny you see them puffing something.

I have a terrible addiction...

Its the pursuit of knowledge, never drugs or money or power or fame or any of that stuff. People think I'm very weird and alien because of it.


Others use drugs to escape reality and travel into a void, devoid of pain,fear and unhappiness. They don't want to feel weak,useless and unwanted. Drugs are a means of escape from the hell they go through, I completely understand. Every human feels sad,fvcked and helpless at a point in their lives.
Others use religion(Jesus,Mohammed,Tao and other gods) to ease their pain and help them live through it on the promise of better tomorrow.

Others use money or power or something else to ease their pain.

I prefer to use knowledge, to understand why humans have a yearning in their psyche so deep nothing fills it till they die. Not religion,not money,not humans and certainly not drugs. We find ways to get by in life,clutching and snatching at anything that promises us peace or happiness but what is even true happiness when you are not even free. Humans were MADE,whittled down and incomplete.

So I get by,using knowledge.
Knowledge is my opium,heroine and cocaine all in one.

Knowledge and her sister Logic keep me sane,in a world where everything else is insane.
