Nigeria, Once The Largest Producers Of Palm Oil Worldwide, Have Spent Over $3.2bn On Its Importation Recently.

According to Nigeria History and Facts on Twitter, Nigeria was at a point in time, the largest producers of palm oil in the world.

In a contrasting turn of events, however, the country has spent more than $3.2bn on the importation of Palm Oil during a period of ten years.

We don't have the land ...palm oil plantation is capital intensive and not really profitable

Land are expensive in the south south and east making it not profitable .....

That's what u get when u have large population and small land

Its because we prefer anything foreign. We see foriegn stuff as a show of class to our neighbors dat can only buy local

That i dnt believe.

We have enough land . The population is increasing quite alright but if we can dedicate 5%of our over 900k sqkm to farming we should be ok.

Moreover, vegetable oil is just bleached palm oil. Likewise all the butter we eat it just hydrogenated oil

Most of our land are in the north places that can't support palm trees

Can u get 500hectare of land easily in say akwa ibom ,abia ,IMO ,Enugu ,these places are the best for palm trees Edo is the best bet

Edo still has a lot of uncultivated lanđ . Kogi state soil too if good for palm tree growth.

No you tell me..

Cassava might yield more but you plant cassava every year unlike palm tree that you plant once and harvest over many years. Moreover everybody cannot go into cassava likewise everybody cannot go into palm tree cultivation
