i heard of a story on radio, the husband donated his kindey and liver to his wife and the woman is in court asking for a divorce.

I think my ans will be a big NO! We re not related for pete's sake n so i know our major histocompatibility complex will not match. Simply put, it will be a waste of kidney. Now, if my kids were in need of my kidneys, i will gladly donate all to them.

Even if you are not related, tissue typing can show that the match is good enough (of course more likely if related). Even with the so-called matching donor, you will still need life-long immunosuppressant because no matter how good the match, it is still a foreign body that the body naturally wants to reject.

Like most people have said, it is tough. It is not an African thing really.
I know someone who needs a kidney right now. He has many full siblings and a wife here in Europe. He's on the waiting list. I have always wondered why none of them has volunteered to be tested for histocompatibility. I know if others were in his situation, he would happily give. That's how nice he is.

If I let my wife die, because I refused to donate to her a life-saving kidney, without any risk to myself, I'd never be able to look my daughter in the eye again.
