after watching the Liverpool and Tottenham game, I decided to get some foodstuffs from a nearby store this evening.
when I got there, i met a couple of other customers, so i idly waited for my turn. it took quite some time but I was finally attended to. during the process of buying, some guys came around to buy as well. from their conversation it was apparent they were returning from the liverpool game so I easily chipped in. not too long after a young lady joined us, she was quiet and totally uninterested in our conversation, she just asked the seller for what she wanted and got an Immediate response which was odd since the store normally had a "first in, first out" queuing policy. I wasn't bothered as I normally let people have their way anytime I come to the store even though I came before them.
the seller simultaneously attended to me and the girl, but it was obvious she was going to leave before me. at that point I saw two girls approaching us so I told the guys that I hoped the seller finish with me before the duo get to us because from previous experience girls tend to be sharp mouthed than me and always get attended to first b4 me.

the guys laughed, and I smiled because they got the joke.
funny enough the girls came around and without regard for the queue immediately asked for 3 bags of water. this provoked another round of laughter from the guys and even the seller due to my correct assessment.
however my assessment didn't go down well with the other girl and she lashed at me. so you think because you are a guy, girls should not be able to make their claim. since I came here, you have been talking and now you seem to be having a problem with girls talking. seriously, you think girls should not be able to talk too.

I just looked at her with confused amusement as she ranted angrily, while murmuring profanity under my breath as she embarrassed me. she immediately stormed out of the place when she finished ranting as if I was the vilest person on earth. l looked around me and got sympathetic looks from the guys and just smiled.
I Immediately recounted everything I said to see where I could have caused an upset but there was none I could point out. what I said was purely meant as a joke. the way I said it showed that, everyone laughed, even the seller who was a girl also laughed so why would one person see only negativity in a sentence that never had one. I used sharp mouthed but there is nothing wrong with that or did she think I meant girls were parrots.

realization dawned on me that I had just had a faceoff with a feminist and due to her insecurity she had totally misjudged everything I said and me as a person.

I got very angry at that realization and looked at the direction she had gone through, and contemplated whether I should follow her so I can have an honest mind resetting conversation with her. I eventually let it go after convincing myself that she was the one with a sad soul and not me.

At the end I simply understood what a lot of young girls see feminism to be and it wasnt close to what I read about the real thing. it was just a bitter mentality of women thinking that men hate them and reciprocating that hate is the only way of survival.
if this is what most girls have there in their head then they have been taught a lie and it would be best they unlearn everything their brain was taught about feminism

I wonder how you would have felt if some white dudes were saying the sort of stuff you were saying but about black people instead of girls.

He was behaving like a pig. A woman pulled him up on it and he's labelling her a feminist.

...Or maybe the girl in question has attitude issues...or she was having a bad day and lashing out...or she was on her period and was irritated at what you're saying... the possibilities are endless

Not everyone subscribes to jokes besides, you didn't know how her evening was going.
If the table were to be turned around on a bad evening, you might have reacted the same way she did.
Never be quick to judge people, you don't know their story.

of course, there was nothing feministic about her response, it was simply a harsh retaliation to my statement which she percieved was a jab to undermine women. but I never did. if anything, I presented myself as a weak mouthed fellow who could be outdone with words.

As far as she is concerned, she just stood against a sexist who thought women doesnt have equal right to speak in public. that my friend is feminism. but the funny thing is that she never knew I said what I said for humor when others saw it.
Do you know why. it is because she already had a predetermined notion that guys only see women as inferior.

she didnt know my story either. I for one wasn't really having a good evening. it was the only reason I remained quiet. I am not quick with words but my temper do escalates during underserved red faced moments. I was the one at the recieving end of her venting and I did not like it one bit

the way you say it gives me the impression that you think feminism is a bad thing. as a guy I believe women have equal rights just as men, that also makes me a feminist (check the word up). secondly I never talked to her, so she could have simply mind her business. what if I had lashed back and things escalates, do you think she would have a case after her rude intrusion into my conversation.

you dont need a placard or need to be a girl to be a feminist and it is not a bad thing to be one. but it is madness to attack people you dont know in blind defence of girl rights. the girl was a radical and it was clear she was doing her possible best not to call me names

This was an idiotic write-up, and you've just played yourself into a stereotype of what a feminist is. Look at the language you used: angry, bitter, ranting, insecure, reciprocating hate. Abeg.
