Pheia

Ancient Pheia is the ancient city located within the Bay of Agios Andreas. It used to be a significant harbor for ancient Olympia. Nonetheless, it got struck by an earthquake because of which it sunk into the waters. The earthquake was extremely severe which not only destroyed the city of Pheia. Rather, it was responsible for downing the city of Patras and the Temple of Zeus at Olympia.

A number of archeologists discovered the city in 1911 through the remains of the wall that were found submerged in the water. Since then, many archeologists have conducted several excavations and given us proofs of the forgotten city. The remains highlighted the fact that the city was well-constructed and a sophisticated populace lived over here.

Mulifanua Bay

Mulifuana was once a tiny village that was situated in the northern tip of Samoa. A number of workers who traveled the place through a ferry found out several pieces of pottery over there. When extensive research was conducted, it was found out that the pottery dates back to 800 BC. The pottery and the remnants suggested that they belonged to the Lapita Village which was in fact, one of the largest villages of this area.

Moreover, the pottery and the other ruins reflected that the people who used to live here were a powerful race and the land was also considered to be great. Now, if you are willing to visit the place, you will require special permission to enter the premises.

Rungholt

The city of Rungholt was a part of Germany until a storm cleared the town from the world map. It was a small area that held a population of about 25000 people. However, the storm was so harsh that it flounced the population as well as the city completely!

Rungholt was a prosperous city. In the 20th century, a few remnants of the city were found in the Wadden Sea but were swept away. Again, in the 1920s and 1930s, a few remainders of the city were witnessed that suggested that the town was pretty wealthy, having a strong civilization. Also, the archeologists have suggested that the city was a significant port in the past.

Atil

Amongst the long-forgotten lost underwater cities, Atil is also another city that vanished somewhere within the water. Atil was the capital city of the Khazar Empire during the 8th century till the 10th century. It was destroyed by the forces of Kiev in the early 10th century. Nonetheless, the remnants were present on the site for quite a long time until they were swept away due to the great flow of the Caspian Sea.

The ruins of Atil were not discovered until 2008 when a group of a few Russian Archeologists came up with the claim that they have uncovered the ruins of Atil.
