LEt's start first by looking up what desitny means.

des·ti·ny –noun, plural -nies. 1. something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune.
2. the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.
3. the power or agency that determines the course of events.
4. (initial capital letter) this power personified or represented as a goddess.
5. the Destinies, the Fates.

Destiny is fate. Fate is when one has their life already maped out for them. They know their inabilities and abilities to carry out certain things. If ones is destined to become a dcotr, then they shall be a doctor. Destiny is not always marked by great happenings, but also unfortunate ones also. One may be destined to be poor or rich.

personally i do not believe in destinity or fate
Re: Destiny? Does It Exist. by TellyB(m): 9:45am On May 23, 2007
It all depends on the contexts one uses the words 'destiny' and 'fate'. I do not believe in the destiny that assumes a denial of one's active choice. If that is the sense in which destiny is implied in some people's idea, then no questions should be asked; because the alternatives to choices would have already been denied.

It is diffiuclt to agree with the idea that one is destined to be rich or poor, educated or a dullard. A serious minded person commiting his life to scholarship soon finds himself educated at some level. No one is destined to be a dullard and remains so even after seriously seeking to gain some level of education.

In another sense, to be destined for something or the other requires some sort of qulification. I look at a talented chap who's good at playing some musical instrument, and I remark out of hand: 'That fellow's destined to be a maestro!' If he takes my out of hand statement and relaxes without continued effort in his talents, he sure would find out I was no prophet making that statement! grin

Re: Destiny? Does It Exist. by ibrahim007: 4:22pm On May 23, 2007
that question is not sensible
Re: Destiny? Does It Exist. by TellyB(m): 4:30pm On May 23, 2007
It is sensible. We only need to ask in what sense the originator posed it.

Telly B, are u a male or female I wish we can meet , i like d way u answer question smiley smiley smiley

Thank u 4 making me 2 understand that no man is create 2 be richer than other but d problem is 4rm us.

How

We takes d wrong step by imitating other people and inpatient .

We refuse 2 go 4 our talent in which we are created , that why some people after spending sleepless night in school only 2 come out with pass even after all their effort 2 make it . WHY B/c it not their talent 2 be a graduate or 2 work in an office but rather 2 be a trader or any other thing.

D QUESTION NOW IS, HOW CAN ONE KNOW HIS/HER TALENT
Re: Destiny? Does It Exist. by thesilent1(m): 11:05am On May 24, 2007
what do you like doing? what are your hobbies or passsions.

my grandad used to say "what ever you can do for free is what you should do to get paid" (telly, gran strikes again)

so, an example could be " i love cars and engines"; engineering, race driver, etc you get the message.

do not be like me and get forced into engineering by parents (thank you mum!! LOL) and when you finish, you never do anything to do with your degree!

peace!

@Nestle,

I'm inclined to agree with you on your summations. And now the question:

Nestle:

D QUESTION NOW IS, HOW CAN ONE KNOW HIS/HER TALENT

One's talent becomes conspicuous by constant application and use. Take, for instance, if I desire so much to become an accomplished guitarist (for whatever reason), after several attempts I may play the guitar quite reasonably; but that may not be my forte. One sure way I've come to know where I shine is by constantly applying myself to a range of interests and see how far I go in particular issues.

So, the answer would be - apply yourself in the things that draw your interest; and as you make impact in those, you will discover something of your talent. I have a friend who took to cooking; and even though in school we teased him about taking a "woman's thing", he has become an accomplished chef and runs a restaurant in Florida (where I hang out in summer for free food!) cheesy grin

God bless and increase your talents.

@topic,

I believe in destiny!

I believe a man is destined to reap what he is in the habit of sowing!

I believe whatsoever a man believes in his heart and speaks out is destined to come to pass.

I believe the path of the righteous is like the first glimps of dawn, and it is destined to shine brighter and brighter until the full light of day!

I believe a man of faith is a seed of faith, and he is destined to grow wherever he finds himself!

I believe a man's destiny (or destination) can be predicted from the path he is walking on.

I believe a man can change his destiny by changing his belief, action and faith!

I believe your destiny is more in your hands than any other's!!!

Ask God for whatever he desires for your life
Re: Destiny? Does It Exist. by Orosunnuku(m): 12:06am On Jun 15, 2007
Destiny definitely exists, it refers to a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a concept based on the belief that there is a fixed natural order to the universe.
Destiny may be seen as a fixed sequence events that is inevitable and unchangeable, or that individuals choose their own destiny by choosing different paths throughout their life. For me i strongly belief that man is the architect of his own destiny and not a slave to destiny. Hence the choices we make, not the chances we take, determine our destiny.
The tested three P's through which one could change Destiny are;
1. Prayer,
2. Preparation, and
3. Positive view of life.
