You should sue him, reallyyyy. if there's any way you get a proof you're the one. then get a good lawyer. sue him, even if 1million. Make him vomit am.. people are wicked abeg

That's why I never do jobs without initial deposit. sometimes it's not enough to put your watermarks

If it is not a big company, don't waste you time and money on lawyers.

Anywhere you notice your design online, complain of copyright infringement to the owner of that platform (make sure you have prove that you own it), and they would take it down.

You can prove you own it if you have some never published work-in-progress pictures, if the one he has is a little crop and you have the full one, or screenshot of you sending him the image.

If it is on a foreign T-shirt printing website or YouTube video, they could even be given all the revenue he earned while using that design (if you succeed on convinceing them it's yours and he doesn't have the rights to use it). If it is on their personal website, report to the host.

Nigerian court is more useless than police officers when it comes to protection of intellectual properties. It is better to buy a new phone than waste your money on lawyers.

Another thing is to carry his details and write a proper blog post about how he cheated you. So that if he wants to do business with someone and they search for his name, your story would be one of the search results. Damaging to his reputation especially if he wants to work with a foreign company.
