GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN KOGI STATE AND BAYELSA STATE: SAME OLD STORY

It was as if yinka, who happened to be the fastest trending young musician had read the heart of over a million voters that would converge to vote come November 16, which has been designated by INEC for the gubernatorial elections in Kogi state and Bayelsa state respectively.

As a political scientist, the only moment I do go high like a palm wine drunkard is whenever there is a quest to acquire power in an election. Just like a faithful football fan who is always obsessed to see his team win, I cannot sleep, eat or rest until I see the outcome of the election between the sixty-eight political parties qualified and certified by INEC to contest the elections.

While forty-five political parties would contest the heavy weight title in Bayelsa state, twenty-three political parties would have to engage in a wrestle mania, of which only the winner will occupy the governorship seat of power in kogi state.

Thus, I have specially tagged it the clash of titans. I called it the clash of titans not necessarily because there are sixty-eight political teams in the electoral league contesting for the governorship cup but it is
simply because the red umbrellas in kogi state are currently recruiting the best possible players of the decade to strategize and exploit the weakest point of the reigning champions inorder to win the governorship elections. In fact while the red umbrellas has promised to give an unfriendly kiss to the Large brooms, popularly known as the All Progressive Congress, the latter is on the watch eager and desperate to defend dogmatically against the fierce attacking PDP team. This is indeed the factual case of the convoy of APC’ governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello vs PDP’ governorship candidate Eng. Idris Wada.
