1. It is very funny and unfortunate that at of all the cars you could have use ,you decided to Hyundai creta, that vechicle is not even made for the USA market .. I think it is made for Russian or Indian market ...lol made for 3rd world market ...

2. We can agree to disagree that at least 75% of the cars in Nigeria are imported from the USA.. Depending on the cars , USA spec cars tends to have the best engine, quality control, emission regulations, and one of the best safety regulations in the world.. Now if your Hyundai creta was design for the USA market, it will have the best engine made possible to compete with others cars in the USA ..

3. Most of my customers are owners of USA spec cars .. So obviously the engine oil is formulated to meet those requirements and to pass USA motor regulations.. The oil valves of those USA made cars are designed to allow certain weight or grade of oil to flow easily, so meaning if your car requires 5w30 or other engine oil it should flow easily.. Now if the oil valves is not design to take 20w50. Due to the thickness of the oil ,it will not flow fast enough to lubricate all those parts at the beginning of start up. For example at start up my car will only need to warm up for a good give or take 1 minute. But 20w50 oil cause of the thickness will need a good give or take 5minutes to warm .. How many people will wait that long , and if you do wait you are burning unnecessary fuel ....

4. Some modern cars now using GDi engine I let you Google that lol ... so according to USA car regulations now, or tighter regulations .. Most modern cars will end up using 0w20 engine oil , it is abit thinner and will work for weather conditions... camry ,Corolla, Lexus from at least from 2012 are using only 0w20 .. And the 0w20 will work for weather including our Nigeria weather ....

5. 20w50 oil is an absolute engine oil in the USA , I don't see any USA cars that uses them ..maybe 1950 to late 1990 cars ,.. But USA emissions always changing so I doubt you see too many of 20w50 ,.And use 20w50 do exists in the USA ,likely for heavy equipment machines ,but for Auto especially modern cars, no car manufacturers uses them. .....

Conclusion.. My engine oil I do sell are focus mainly for USA spec car owners.. Car owners should always and always read owners manual at all times.. It will help you in the long run .. WHY THE OBSESSION WITH 20W50 ENGINE OIL?

Virtually every mechanic recommends the use of 20w50.

20W-50 engine oil is no good for modern engines, regardless of the mileage. It is too thick, and flow to sensitive areas like multivalve cylinders, VVT / VANOS and any other timing adjusters that rely on instant oil pressure will be impeded.
Sludge.
Damaged timing chain tensioners.
Seized timing adjusters / variators.
Poor gas mileage.
Excessive engine wear.
Premature oil pump failure.
Premature turbo bearing failure.
Clogged PCV systems.
These are just some of the results of using 20W-50 engine oil in a modern engine, which has the viscosity of honey or tar.

Some are citing Nigeria's climate as a reason to run 20W-50 in a 2015 Toyota Camry. Rubbish! World climates are taken into account when engines are designed. What is so special about Nigeria? Texas, Arizona, Nevada are hotter than Nigeria will ever be, so is Dubai and tons of other countries. Run the correct oil for your engine, and stop assuming your Kazeem knows better than the engine manufacturers.

My old Audi S2 I sold with 543,000 miles on the odometer. When it was new and zero miles, the specified engine oil was 5W-30 or 10W-40. At 543,000 miles, the oil spec remained the same, I still used 5W-30.

Those saying their engines "knocked" after using the correct oil, that's nonsense. An engine that is on its last legs, with so much play in the crank main bearings, conrod bearings will run on any old rubbish.

Some unscrupulous dealers and mechanics will actually melt thick grease and fill the engine with the resultant heavy oil, to quieten a rattling and knocking engine, just to sell the car to an unsuspecting buyer. Of course this engine is dead, the moment you drain and replace the oil, it's the end. The destruction is nothing to do with using the correct engine, this was an engine that was already sounding like a bulldozer's diesel engine, that had the symptoms of crank and conrod Bering failure masked by introducing a thicker oil, which would eventually destroy even a healthy engine.

The average Nigerian prefers to accept 20W-50 oil as good for their engines, though deep down, some are aware it's wrong. It's easier to accept the cheaper rubbish than to shell out good money for the correct synthetic oil. These users are also inherently lazy, and couldn't really be bothered to search for the right oil, or import it if they can't find it locally or nationally.

This dealership are cutting corners and they are aware that the average Nigerians are not educated enough to know the right thing to use .. The cost of Mobil xhp is 5k naira compare it to the cost of using the correct oil of 12k naira ...why wouldn't dealership cut corners and use the cheap oil ...

Most knowledgeable car dealer on nairaland that know better will service the car they want to sell with 20w50. This is a well know practice among car dealers whether big or small.. Most know better that using 20w50 is not the rite oil to use .. They want to cut cost and at the sametime the customers are not educated enough to read the owners manual of the car .. So they basically go with the crowd..

I have a client in Warri that I supply imported oil to .. The client stated 20w50 sells faster than the imported oil .. It is cheaper and car owners don't care .. The client was forced to add 20w50 to their stock .. The imported oil are for clients that know what they want .. 20w50 is a very cheap oil , nigerians want cheap things, pennywise and pound foolish mentality .....This is why engine parts is a booming business in Lagos.....

Extended performance will last longer on an engine than regular Mobil oil.. You do not know more than Mobil USA or car manufacturers that says the oil is guaranteed for 15,000 miles.. there is no Toyota or Nissan manual that says annual protection Mobil oil is what Toyotas and nissans need...

Toyota says use 5w30 or 5w20 or 0w20 as case may be on their manuals and on their oil cap. simply use an oil that matches that viscosity and meets manufacturer requirement..

Extended performance is just a term to denote that the oil will do 15,000 miles comfortably without wear or damage to engine.

Keep your obsolete opinions to yourself and stop miseducating people.
