Finally ......UNN has been the only school I knew off that it was easier for a Yoruba man , northerner or south south to get admission than an Igbo man

Had a friend from Edo who entered economics with 218 average ....why someone from IMO n anambra can't even get with 260

My Gombe neighbor got pharmacy with 235 while I know people from Igbo who got 270 n didn't get

If you are from bayelsa 260 can get u medicine but if you are from Igbo ...305 might not get you in

Felt it was messed up ...because unilag ,UI and OAU won't give Igbo's that treatment ,same with ABU or uni port

UNN model is the model all schools should follow

45% national merit ,40% state merits , 10%( staff kids, host community ,special case ) 5% ( well man know man

Bro you consider the competition too, how many northerners are applying for UNN compared to the East students. And I'm from Gombe too pls can you give me the contact of the guy studying pharmacy thanks.

Stupid Southerners are rejoicing. If you abolish Catch Area without abolishing Educationally Disadvantaged States then the FG is creating a back door for aboki to take over federal universities

People should not be deceived, he said every geopolitical zone, and every local government must be represented via a thorough students audit. What it means really is that quota system and not merit will now be used for admission. You can score 290 from Imo state and not get admission into OAU because of this quota system, but Abdul-Dende from Daura with 079 can get the same admission because of the same quota system.

Death to proposed quota system in our universities. Let's have a single merit list!

Buhari has always been a clown. Why not abolish it and insist on merit? Admission by states and lgc is worst than by catchment area.. What he complains of is even done by northern universities not southern universities.

ABU respects merit more than UNN. JAMB even confirmed that.

U must be funny. ABU is the most useless university. Admission is done on religious basis. The same university that deny Prof Andrew Nok becoming a VC cos he is a Christian. Same university I scored 282 to study Economics and I was clearly told to go back to my state

This is a good news, if indeed, it was not just a mere announcement. I think it should be followed with the eradication of policy of 'Educational Disadvantaged States' as well for justice and equity. One would be wondering who made a particular location educationally disadvantaged, and for how long it's going to remain.

Your friend from Edo got admitted to UNN because very few people from Edo state usually apply for admission to UNN. And Edo state is under UNN catchment area.

The following states are under UNN catchment area:
Enugu, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross-River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Rivers.

The following institutions do not have catchment areas, i.e their catchment is all the states in the federation:
UNIABUJA, UI, MOUAU, UNIPORT, FUNAAB, FUPRE, FUAM.

Despite catchment and ELDS criteria, UNN admissions are still 99% Igbos and 1% outsiders check their admission lists

You're a liar!

A.B.U is the only university with a national outlook. It's still the only university with graduates from every local government in Nigeria.

UNN ? Not even a Muslim is easily considered.

U have never been to both schools or u chose to be economical with the truth. ABU is the worst university in Nigeria in terms of admission and employment. Nepotism is their benchmark for everything. Admission is done on 90% Muslims and even employment. I have been there, don't come lying to people here

People don't even understand what this man has done. The man has worsen the problem. He should make on policy on 100% merit. This policy is another RUGA in disguise. The north has more states and local government. So if say UNN is to admit, it will give 44 slots to Kano and only 8 to Bayelsa. It will even give just 13 to Ebonyi and 33 to Katsina. The south should reject this

But there is none of you praising the person that abolished the system. The cursed party of devils could not do this for 16 years, yet you have been cursed not to say thank you to Buhari but if it was Jonathan that did the abolishing you'd be praising him like your god.

what they should have abolished is the educationally disadvantaged states that Abokis use in getting unfair advantage in university admissions, somebody from Anambra with a score of 250 in Jamb would be denied admissions into Unizik and Unn while an Aboki with 220 would be given admission. hopeless country with a hopeless university system that doesn't promote merit.
