Borrusia Dortmund winger and former Manchester City player Jadon Sancho has been snubbed in the race for the 2019 European golden boy award.

Sancho who was touted for a move to Manchester United in the last transfer was second and Bayer Leverkusen playmaker picked up bronze as Athletico Madrid’s record signing JOÃO FÉLIX clinched the award.

The 20-year-old announced himself on the world stage with Benfica last season as he bagged 18 goals with the Portuguese giants.

His performances earned him a £113million move to the Spanish capital earlier this summer.

Felix who has been dubbed “The new Ronaldo” because of a similar playing pattern to Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo said: ‘Thanks to Tuttosport for the Golden Boy Award 2019, I am very proud.

‘It is the second time that a player from Atletico Madrid has won this award and I am happy.

‘Thanks also to Benfica, in particular to coach Bruno Lage for all he has done for me and my family that is always close to me.’
