One man for one woman, does that gain equal proportion society today?

It is assumed that the numbers of ladies in naija are of a higher margin, if marriage should be based on one man for one woman, don't you think that the number of unmarried ladies will continue to expand? Should we therefore encourage polygamy in the society to limit ladies from being mesmerized by men and thereafter dump them for the fear of polygamy?
