Samsung is looking at joining the likes of Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo in partnering MediaTek in the use of its 5G chips for their devices. The high-end Dimensity 1000, MediaTek’s recently unveiled 5G chip might appear the way for Samsung to go since the company is looking at outsourcing manufacturing for its devices except for the high-end ones.

This means competition for Qualcomm who have been the leading SoC manufacturer for years. MediaTek’s 5G solution could appear on the Samsung Mid-range devices such as the A series starting from next year.

As 5G is an emerging technology across the globe, it is expensive and still improving. The MediaTek 5G chips could be the key to affordable 5G devices and ultimately, the rapid development of the 5G technology.

MediaTek is also looking at two other budget-friendly 5G chips, the MT6885 and MT6873 which will make 5G devices less expensive.

It would be great for the users who look for affordable devices and with MediaTek's 5g SoC they won't be left behind.
