Comrade Reuben Izeze, the honorable member representing Ughelli South constituency in the Delta State house of assembly has denounced allegations of involvement in the murder of one Mr. Fidelis Daniel Gbugo in Oginibo community of his council area.

Oginibo, the community of Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),2023 gubernatorial aspirant, Chief Kenneth Gbagi is reported to be enmeshed in crisis over change of community name, Urhobo Today had reported.

It was also reported that the crisis has to do with the change of the name of the community from Oginibo to Oginibu.

Urhobotoday.com learnt that those in favour of the change of the community name from Oginibo to Oginibu allegedly attacked those in favour of Oginibo during a meeting.

The hoodlums who made the attack allegedly drove nail into the head of a villager and wounded three others with machete in a bloodletting.


At least four of the injured persons, including the local cut on his head with a cutlass, were yesterday, at the Police Headquarters in Asaba, Delta State.



In a rejoinder titled, “RE: MOURNING AND SORROW LOOMS OVER OGINIBO COMMUNITY”, and signed by Obaro Mukoro Media Assistant to Comrade Izeze R.Y. Reuben, the lawmaker urged the public to disregard the allegation which is aimed at fanning embers of discord and disunity in the community.

The rejoinder reads;

“The attention of Comrade Izeze R.Y. Reuben has been drawn to a malicious and defamatory publication by one Mr. Egalton Gbayero Gbagi, accusing the Honourable Member Representing Ughelli South State Constituency of being responsible for the death of one Mr. Fidelis Daniel Gbugo, a young son of Oginibo community.

“Although we know the antics of the writer and his family members to fan the embers of discord and disunity in Oginibo community, we wouldn't have bothered to react to the malicious accusation but because of the criminal implications of the allegations and in order not to mislead the reading public, it is important we state as follows:

“That Comrade Izeze on behalf of his family and entire constituents of Ughelli South Constituency commiserates with the family of the late Fidelis Daniel Gbugo over his untimely and gruesome death.

“Comrade Izeze is not and have never been a Chief and does not intend to become one either. He is a peace loving man and couldn't have involved or supported any action against the life of an Oginibo son whom he proudly represents.

“He condemns in strongest terms the violence that has befallen the community in recent times and sued for peace among all stakeholders.

“He denies any involvement either overtly or covertly in the alleged murder of the said Fidelis Daniel Gbugo

“Furthermore, it is common knowledge that the House of Assembly has been in session and he has been on his duty post performing his lawful duties as member representing Ughelli South people in the Delta State House of Assembly and that these facts are available for verification by security agencies.

“He called on the State Government to set up a panel of enquiry to investigate the immediate and remote cause of the crisis plaguing the once peaceful Oginibo community.

“Finally he called on Gbayero Gbagi to retract his malicious allegation and apologise to Comrade Izeze within 72 hours, otherwise he will leave us with no choice than to institute a legal action against him.

“To be forewarned is to be forearmed!!!
