God spoke with people in ancient times through different means but after the arrival of Jesus, God stopped talking to humans. Hebrew 1:1-2

Now he is speaking to everyone through the pages of the Bible (his word), most people often say "I believe in Jesus" but it's an understatement because you can't believe a person you've NEVER seen, hear him talk or read any form of document he wrote!

The people we believe (trust) are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, this four individuals penned down stories of a young Jew named Jesus from Nazareth. So after a thorough study of their documents we agreed that truthfully Jesus actually walked this planet!

How is God communicating with people after Jesus' return to heaven?

Well Jesus himself SENT people to people! Matthew 10:3-15, 24:14, 28:18-20, Luke 10:1-6

According to the Bible book of Revelation 22:18-19, Jesus said "no addition and no subtraction" this means whatever he's got to tell the entire human race has all been documented in the Bible!

So if anyone now hears any kind of voice from the spirit world, trust what the Bible said on this matter, they're voices of demons (rebellious spirits) Revelation 16:14

Today God is speaking to people through Jesus who sent out Jews to connect people, he specifically chose Apostle Paul to connect other nations and Paul established Churches, through these Churches the word of God keep spreading and that's how each of us now have a copy of the Bible (God's word) in our homes.

If you want to know God's plan(will) for all mankind, just pray for to God, tell him you want Jesus' true followers to come and visit you IN YOUR HOMES and JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES will come and teach you what you need to do to gain salvation.

He has the right to listen to everyone's opinion on the matter, then after listening he need to pray fervently on the SCRIPTURES presented to gain more insight.

But Apostle Paul made it clear that all such things WILL END after the Bible has been completed! 1Corinthians 13:8-10

Let's learn from the experience of those who tried to communicate DIRECTLY with God in the past!

Because God has his own arrangement and he only welcome anyone who is able to IDENTIFY his chosen people to join them in worshiping him, he will NOT thwart his own organized setting no matter how anyone seek his face!

Majority of humans in the past have engaged themselves in thorough meditations in silent places, only to be visited by demons. The result is what is called idolatry today!

Don't think people worshiping woods and stones are foolish Sir, most of them do hear voices from the spirit world, but how do we know that the voices speaking to them are demons?

The Bible answers! Eve wanted to live independently of God's organized setting so Satan took advantage of her. Many humans have done exactly the same down history!

When the earth was filled with violence God talked to Noah but never gave him any rules because their relationship was only based on destroying the wicked generation of that time!

God chose just one race to dispense spiritual food to others (Abraham's lineage), that's why you can never hear of any prophet SENT by God to deliver any message apart from the sons of Israel!

By that time, other races were trying to communicate with this same God.People like Confucius, Buddha, Krishna and a host of others from different races tried to have one on one encounter with God but it's demons that were engaging them!

Even after Jesus has come and returned to heaven, Mormon, Muhammad and others tried to have a one on one encounter with the same God, now can anyone say Muhammad didn't believe in Jesus? Of course but he didn't humble himself under God's organized setting so a demon took over, the result is what the spirit later asked him to do.
Kill people who opposed him.
Go polygamous due to widows of slain followers.
Spirit told him he is the greatest even than Jesus.
It's from then that different religions keep erupting because demons were taking advantage of their lack of wisdom.

Today you're seeing countless religions having contradicting doctrines and conflicting teachings all in the name of the same Jesus.
